KNUST begins the construction of a 7-storey hostel facility to address the challenge of accommodation which has been pestering students for several years.

Around 1988 students of KNUST were served free food from breakfast, lunch through to supper;
Students later boycotted this and went on a demonstration because they were fed up with eating chicken regularly.
