International Trades: Undersea cables R only critical for FIIs (Foreign Institutional Investors) and global price syncing. If a cable is cut in the Red Sea, an investor in London might see a "lag" (latency) of 100–200 milliseconds, but the data itself remains encrypted and safe.
2. Built-in Redundancy (The "Safety Net")
The NSE and BSE use a "mesh" of connectivity. If one "highway" is blocked, the traffic is instantly rerouted:
Multiple Landing Stations: India doesn't have just one "plug" to the world. International data lands at multiple points, primarily Mumbai, Chennai, and Kochi. If a cable in the Arabian Sea is damaged, data can be rerouted through Chennai to go eastward via Singapore.
Alternative Routes: When Red Sea cables were damaged in 2024 and 2025, telecom providers (like Tata Communications and Jio) moved traffic to "terrestrial" routes through Central Asia or routes around the Cape of Good Hope (Africa).
