A Pakistan attack on his army camp left him with multiple bullet wounds and he was also run over by vehicle rendering him paraplegic for life.
But being an armyman and brave by birth, he continued his passion for sports and learnt swimming (of all sports !)
Know what ? Murlikant Petkar won India its 1st ever Paralympic GOLD medal in Germany (1972) with an impressive 37.33 seconds.
He also participated in Javelin Throw !

IAF rescued 800 Indians from Kabul today morning via their C17

In the 1993 Latur Earthquake, a 18 month old baby PINNI was stuck inside the debris of a collapsed building for 108 hours (4 days plus).
Lt.Col Sumeet Baxi dug a small hole in the debris and kept pushing deep inspite of difficulty in breathing until his hand touched a cold body.
Nobody including the parents, expected the child to survive after 108 hours but she was breathing and holding Pinni close to his chest, Lt.Col Sumeet Baxi rose from the underneath of debris of 7 fallen houses like a true hero.

Grievously injured in the crossfine during an operation in Manipur, Col.DPK Pillay saw 2 children also deeply wounded.
When the rescue helicopter arrived to evacuate him to safety, he insisted the children to be taken to safety first.
Pillay was nearly fatally wounded, he was assumed to be dead but he not only survived but also later did lot of development activities in that area.

On 22nd March, 2020, at the peak of CORONA PANDEMIC fear, Air India evacuated 263 Indians from Italy supported by a fearless Crew.

The commander of the Air India 777 was gusty Swati Rawal. The brave Captain Swati was also the captain of the Air India's ALL WOMEN'S CREW which flew Non-stop from Mumbai to New York on March 8.
