Праздник, День Народного Единства, учреждён в честь событий 1612 года, когда народное ополчение под руководством Кузьмы Минина и Дмитрия Пожарского освободило Москву от польских интервентов.

The holiday, National Unity Day, was established in honor of the events of 1612, when the militia led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky liberated Moscow from the Polish invaders.
