Shadow Ban Wave on Reddit - and How to Avoid It 😐

Just when things had finally calmed down… here we go again. Reddit shadow bans are hitting accounts with no obvious explanation. The last major wave happened over a year ago, and since then shadow bans have been extremely rare for our team. Occasionally we’d see one after a rushed launch or an account cleanup, but usually no more than one ban a month. Over the last two days alone, we’ve already lost several accounts, and the overall stats from other Redditors aren’t looking great either.

During a shadow ban wave, an account can get hit seemingly for no reason at all. That said, there are a few things worth paying attention to:

💃Low CQS

Low CQS doesn’t directly cause shadow bans. However, Reddit’s filters are more likely to remove your posts, which can gradually reduce trust in the account and eventually contribute to a shadow ban.

The best way to improve it is by leaving comments in subreddits, posting at a reasonable pace throughout the day instead of dumping posts all at once, and maintaining normal account activity such as scrolling the feed, replying to messages, and generally behaving like a real user.

New accounts almost always start with a low CQS, but it usually improves over time with consistent activity.

💃Account cleanups increase the risk of shadow bans

Those were actually the accounts that got hit for us this time.

When a model leaves, we usually remove their content from the account and repurpose it for another model. Outside of ban waves, these accounts tend to perform perfectly fine. During a wave, though, they’re often among the first to get flagged, likely due to lower CQS and reduced contribution history.

If a ban wave is currently happening, it’s best not to clean up and relaunch accounts unless absolutely necessary. If you must do it, spend extra time warming the account up first.

By the way, here’s a great free tool for cleaning up Reddit accounts.

💃Low-quality or unsuitable proxies

Bad proxies can get an account banned both during a ban wave and under normal conditions.

We use mobile proxies purchased from a private provider.

💃New accounts are more vulnerable

If you’re planning to launch an account right now, try to use one that’s at least six months old.

Account warmup is more important than ever during periods like this. Take your time and gradually build activity before launching.

💃Posting during reports

Posting when reports are spiking can lead to shadow bans, and it’s often pointless anyway because Reddit may barely function for a large portion of users during those periods.

You can check current report levels here.

The same bot also shows the number of shadow bans and permanent bans, so you can confirm that it’s not just you getting hit.

💃Prepare backup accounts

Keep warming up backup accounts alongside your main ones.

That way, if one account gets banned, you can immediately switch over to another account that’s already prepared.

Fun fact: in about 2% of cases, we’re actually able to get a shadow ban removed through the appeal process. It’s a long shot, but it’s worth trying. Maybe you’ll get lucky 🍀

One interesting side effect of Reddit cleanup waves is that surviving accounts often see increased traffic for no obvious reason. Competition inside subreddits decreases, which can result in better visibility.

Probably the only upside to the whole situation 👍

Earlier today I was talking to a Reddit creator who is experiencing her first major ban wave, and she’s taking it pretty hard. Two out of the four accounts she manages have already been banned.

For anyone struggling with this right now, remember that ban waves don’t last forever. They always pass.

Reddit is cyclical. The best thing we can do is adapt to how the platform works and avoid letting bans dictate our emotional state.

Sending hugs 🫂

From $20K to $56K in 4 months of working with our agency
or
It’s time to share our July case studies with you 💓

The model is a fairly well-known PH actress with active social media accounts. She had worked with different teams before, but her page had never been able to break past the $30K mark. When she started working with us, her current monthly revenue was $20K.

Her main goal was to break through that ceiling and consistently generate higher monthly revenue on her page.

We closed July at $56K 🥳

👇 What we did

-Launched 3 SFW Twitter accounts from scratch and started growing them organically using strictly non-nude content

-Created 4 Facebook accounts and 3 additional Instagram accounts

-Developed our own content uniqueization tool that preserves both quality and visual appeal. This allows us to repurpose and uniqueize existing videos without overwhelming the model with constant new shoots

-Optimized the technical setup for the US market. On several accounts, US traffic now makes up over 50% of the audience, while other accounts also have Tier 1 countries among their top geos
Refined our sales strategy.

-Engagement often drops during the summer as people go on vacation and spending decreases. To prevent a revenue dip, we adjust our approach accordingly.

We’re continuing to work with the model 👼

P.S. If you’re a model and feel like you’ve hit your income ceiling, DM me and let’s see if that’s really the case ;)

The second case - we started working together in April, and we’ve already doubled the previous balance 🤗

The overall strategy is pretty similar to the previous case, with one exception - the model handles her Instagram accounts and their optimization herself.

On our end, we create content plans and shoot ideas, including recommendations for trending locations in the countries she’s visiting (she travels a lot), as well as content editing, video editing, and content uniqueization. We also handle traffic from Facebook accounts.

For this page, it was important to completely rebuild the sales strategy and subscription funnels - and it definitely paid off 🤗

A “Harry Potter” actress made more on OnlyFans than she did throughout her entire acting career.

Jessie Cave, who played Lavender Brown, revealed that she made more money in her first year on the platform than she had from all of her film and theater roles combined.

And there’s no NSFW content at all: for $6 a month, subscribers get access to ASMR videos of Cave brushing, braiding, and styling her hair. On one day alone, she made $20,000.
The Reddit ban wave has reached a whole new level, or we’re just getting f-cked harder and getting stronger 🙉

Kittycats, it’s been a while since we last talked - I’ll make a separate post later about my break from running the channel, but for now, let’s talk about what’s currently happening on Reddit.

Let’s go through the timeline month by month:

June - most of our team’s accounts got banned, and every single one was a shadowban. All of them were purchased accounts that had been actively managed anywhere from one month to several years 🫨

July - we changed our entire technical setup, switched to Crane (JB), changed proxies, bought new accounts, but still kept getting hit with mass bans.

August - three full weeks with no bans at all. We launched all of our models, managed to add links, and were able to run full posting schedules on most accounts without any issues.

September - the bans came back. Around 40% of our fresh launches got wiped out almost in a single day. We changed our approach again, adjusted the technical setup (partially going back to the old one, lol), and slowly started launching again.

Here’s what I’ve noticed ⬇️

⚪️Within this massive ban wave, there seem to be periods of calm when we barely see any bans, followed by spikes when a huge number of accounts go down. Interestingly, these periods often don’t line up between our team and other teams.

⚪️Some bans look different now: the profile picture doesn’t disappear, links remain visible, and you can still see the follower count - but it’s still a regular shadowban.

⚪️A lot of accounts are coming back. Some recover even before we submit an appeal. We’ve had accounts come back just a couple of hours after getting banned. A lot of older accounts from 2024 and 2025 have also recovered.

⚪️After an account comes back, we warm it up a little and resume posting. Some get banned again, while others continue running successfully.

⚪️We’ve had one account come back from a ban for the FOURTH time, and it’s currently running normally. We’ve also had an account recover even after Reddit had already rejected its appeal.

⚪️I’ve started actively exchanging information with a couple of other Reddit teams. We test hypotheses together, saving each other time and money, and it’s definitely paid off. I used to keep our team completely separate from other teams, and in hindsight, that was a mistake.

⚪️Having a warm-up strategy is good. Repetitive, predictable behavior on an account - not so much. The more unpredictable and inconsistent the activity is, the better the accounts seem to survive for us. Funny enough, the team member who spends the least amount of time on each account and doesn’t try to imitate “real human activity” for half the day has the highest survival rate, even though that seems completely counterintuitive)

⚪️We tested pretty much every anti-detect, emulator, and device setup we could think of. In the end, we settled on Crane and ADS (lol). We also tested multiple proxy options, only to eventually return to one of the trusted services we had used before.

⚪️We’re still testing different account suppliers and have noticed that accounts from some suppliers survive significantly better than others. Suppliers are one of the trickiest parts for us because we work at a large scale and need a steady supply of accounts.

⚪️There’s no reason to rush adding a link, but waiting too long doesn’t make much sense either. We currently add it around day 4-5 and use a redirect.

⚪️And one more interesting thing: personalized username accounts and self-registered accounts survived the entire ban wave. Unfortunately, we didn’t have many of those. For new launches, accounts aged no more than a year have been performing best for us so far, and most of the accounts we currently launch are 1-3 months old.

Stay tuned, and wishing fewer bans to everyone who made it all the way through this post 😎

Is Reddit still worth it, and why keep pushing it? 🥲

Absolutely. With all the bans, competition has dropped significantly, and despite some minor seasonal dips in activity, the results we’re seeing from accounts launched completely from scratch are hard not to love.

OnlyFans creator Bonnie Blue auctioned off the naming rights to her future child 🤪

She previously claimed that she got pregnant after marathon with 400 men.

One of the suggested names was SIN SHLUHI - she thought it meant something in Chinese, but it didn’t win.

In the end, the winning bid came from crypto casino BetBolt - $1.2 million. Bonnie said she plans to officially name her child after the brand.

However, there is currently no independent confirmation that the $1.2 million has actually been paid.
