A similare story. This cat was abused to the point where he would just lie down with face towards a corner. He would hide if possible. Didn't trust anyone.

My brother adopted him, and I spent 2 hours gaining his trust where he eventually felt comfortable to eat food next to me. He still hid from everyone else.

But over time he grew. He was loved. No one was trying to hurt him. A new cat emerged from the broken shell.

He passed last year, but he get to live some year to his fullest, happy and unafraid, loved and always taken care of.
