I saw this video by ‘Abdullah al-Sharif—may Allah guide him—where he discourages people from Hajj, and connects it to what is happening to our people in Gaza, so I recalled something I wrote seven years ago, where I said:

Indeed, the noble Prophet ﷺ performed ‘umrah at a time when the Ka‘bah was under the authority of Quraysh, who had expelled him, fought him, and surrounded the Ka‘bah with idols.

Nevertheless, the noble Prophet ﷺ went to the House of Allah, for it is the House of Allah, and he worshipped there and proclaimed Tawḥīd (monotheism) there, and he did not say: “I will not benefit Quraysh with anything when I come and enter their land, and perhaps buy and sell.”

For even if Quraysh benefits, the benefit of the believers in obeying Allah, the Exalted, is greater.
1
And this is Thumāmah ibn Uthāl—when he offered the noble Prophet ﷺ to prevent Quraysh from his trade, the Prophet ﷺ commanded him not to do so, and Ibn Ḥibbān commented in his Ṣaḥīḥ on this hadith saying:
“In this report is evidence for the permissibility of trade to the lands of war for people of piety.”

This is because the benefit is mutual—and this is in trade, so how about a matter that removes sins entirely?

And if you were to look into the book al-‘Iqd al-Thamīn fī Tārīkh al-Balad al-Amīn (The Precious Necklace in the History of the Sacred Land), you would find that some sects who held authority over the Two Holy Mosques, when they wanted to anger another sect, would prevent them from Hajj—knowing how venerated the House of Allah is in people’s hearts.

And only in our time have some people emerged calling for boycotting Hajj, under the pretext that the Sacred House is under a corrupt authority, and that it will profit from the money of Hajj!

And you—will you not benefit by having your past and future sins forgiven?
Had such a statement been said in any time other than ours, we would have found it less strange—especially since they call going to the lands of disbelievers “Hijrah” (migration), and live there, and the disbelievers directly benefit from their wealth, selves, and perhaps even their honor, and then someone says: “We won’t go to the House of Allah the Exalted because of so-and-so.”

This idea did not come from nothing—it came from layers of belittling obedience and the rights of Allah in comparison to human rights and human conflicts.
Even if they present it to you as religion, the greatest matters in their religion are material or social benefits, whereas matters of pure creed are trivial—unless they can be redirected to serve the first kind (i.e., material/social).

And now I add, saying: No one can boycott oil products under the pretext of necessity—and yet the money of Hajj benefits a vast number of Muslims who work in Hajj campaigns and service of the pilgrims.

And the author of the post himself pays taxes to the one who founded the filthy cancerous entity, and continues to support it.

These days, a tremendous dust storm struck our country. At its end, there was rain, then things subsided. I will not hide from you that I saw the matter as if it were a metaphor.

The storm is like the hardships and severe matters we go through in our lives, and the rain is the good that follows it and signals its end.

"Indeed, with hardship comes ease. Indeed, with hardship comes ease." [Ash-Sharh]

Then I looked into the matter and found that this type of storm is classified by specialists as a haboob, and it is called "quick to anger"—it comes suddenly, is strong, and does not last long.

It is associated with thunderclouds that bring rain in a way that provokes wonder. So what is the connection between temporary dust storms and rain?

That is the wisdom of God and the marvel of His creation—glory be to Him. In His creation is benefit, a lesson, and a warning.
Revelation has been likened to rain in the Qur’an. Likewise, there is no falsehood except that it comes alongside truth—and the truth is stronger and more lasting, even if little. Falsehood has its outburst, but then fades away.

In the illustrated article above, they quoted the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, saying that they liken these storms—which rarely last more than three hours—to the anger of a three-year-old child. Though angry, specialists say this has healthy indications.

Is he willing to be a servant of God?

Hussein Al-Husseini Al-Mu'addi said in his book "The Prophet ﷺ in the Eyes of Fair Westerners", p. 48:

"[The Centrality of God or the Centrality of Man]
The main problem in the West’s intellectual relationship with the Islamic world—and the West’s hostility toward the Prophet ﷺ—is the centrality of God Almighty in the universe for Muslims, which is embodied in the message of Muhammad ﷺ, in the religion of Islam, and in the reality of the Muslim Ummah, regardless of the level of religiousness and adherence among individuals in this nation.

In contrast, the West proceeds intellectually—across all segments of its societies and all its thinkers—from the idea of man being central to the universe, with the individual being the main focus of concern, and the aspirations, rights, and freedoms of the individual being prioritized above all else, even above acts of worship and one's relationship with God.

The West views that Muhammad ﷺ introduced a concept that could undermine Western thought at its core—namely, the centrality of God Almighty in human life—opposed to Western theories that revolve around man. Therefore, the West chose to place hostility toward Islam within its core value system, as a way to maintain man as the center of the universe in the face of the message of Muhammad ﷺ, which preserved the position and centrality of the Creator, Glorified be He, in human life.

On this point, the British author Karen Armstrong, writer of the book Muhammad, said:
“We must remember that the hostile stance toward Islam in the West is part of the Western value system that began forming during the Renaissance and the Crusades. These marked the beginning of the West reclaiming its own identity. The eleventh century was the beginning of a new Europe, and the Crusades were Europe’s first collective response.”

I say: this is a notion I have often emphasized.

It is that many Westerners—and those influenced by them among the publicly heretical or the hypocrites—have a problem with religion because there exists something called “the right of God,” and this right is greater than the rights of created beings.

It is deeply burdensome to their souls that leaving prayer or disbelieving in the unseen could be a greater sin than harassment, bullying, or theft—even though these are also forbidden in the religion.

We were raised to glorify the Western man as a free thinker who accepts only what is proven—yet this is false. Their minds accepted the Trinity and many other myths in the past. Today, most have accepted nihilism and ornate theories that ultimately approach the same kind of impossibility found in the Trinity—if not worse. It suffices to see how many have leaned toward atheism, whose essence is that something came from nothing, and that with time, everything accumulated and became complex through millions of fortunate coincidences!

In truth, overbearing souls begin by raising objections to ideas they dislike, just as the idolaters demanded signs from the prophets while having no evidence themselves for the polytheism they practiced.

Indeed, the general run of conflicting Western theories promises only immediate benefit to man. Therefore, the essence of the religious dialogue with them is to determine: Are they ready to be servants of God? Or do they want a religion that only gives and never asks of them—otherwise, they reject it?

Allah says:
“But if they do not respond to you—then know that they are only following their desires. And who is more astray than one who follows his desire without guidance from Allah? Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.” [Al-Qasas 28:50]

And in the Sirah of Ibn Hisham, in the story of Al-Tufayl ibn ‘Amr:
“Then I called the tribe of Daws to Islam, but they were slow in responding. So I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Makkah and said, ‘O Prophet of Allah, Daws has overwhelmed me with sin (i.e., fornication); so invoke Allah against them.’ But he said: ‘O Allah, guide Daws. Return to your people, call them to Islam, and be gentle with them.’”
And many of those who say: “The world has reached such and such, and you are still talking about issues like the divine attributes, the Companions, purity, and so on...”—know that they are influenced by this worldview. This is not a doubt or objection in itself, and it is no reason to belittle the religion that it contains matters related to God’s right, which are deemed greater than matters of human rights that are agreed upon by both believers and disbelievers.

The sign of the true religion is that the greatest matters within it are those related to the right of God. What pertains to God is centered on His right; what pertains to creation revolves around creation.

This does not mean neglecting human rights as prescribed by the Shari‘ah. Rather, fulfilling those rights is an act of devotion to God Almighty. But the point is that you see them exalting every matter that brings human benefit, while anything they see as harmful or as elevating God’s right—they find unbearably burdensome.

An Overlooked Report in Sahih al-Bukhari on the Effect of Charity on Increasing Provision

Al-Bukhari said in his Sahih:
1350 - Sa‘id ibn Yahya narrated to us: My father narrated to us: Al-A‘mash narrated to us, from Shaqeeq, from Abu Mas‘ud al-Ansari who said:
"When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would command us to give charity, one of us would go to the market, carry goods (as a laborer), and earn a mudd (a small measure), and today some of those people have one hundred thousand (coins)."

I say: The meaning of the report is that the Prophet ﷺ used to encourage the Companions to give in charity, but one of them might not find anything to give beyond what he needed for his family.
So he would go out and work specifically to be able to give in charity, and he would earn a mudd, which is the amount that fills a hand of wheat or barley—something very small—and he would give it in charity hoping for the reward from Allah.

Then Abu Mas‘ud said that those same people who used to struggle to find something to give in charity, one of them now possesses one hundred thousand dinars (i.e., at the time he was relating the hadith after the Prophet ﷺ had passed away).
A hundred thousand gold dinars would be worth millions today, and even if they were silver, they would still represent a great fortune.

He only mentioned this to highlight the blessing of charity.

In Ahmad’s Musnad, there's a narration in which Shaqeeq ibn Salamah comments on the words of Abu Mas‘ud: “I saw that he was referring to himself.”
This means the man who had nothing but a mudd to give in the time of the Prophet ﷺ and later ended up with one hundred thousand dinars—was Abu Mas‘ud himself.

This comment by Shaqeeq ibn Salamah (Abu Wa'il) refutes the interpretation of those who thought Abu Mas‘ud was criticizing someone who had one hundred thousand and did not give in charity. Rather, he was referring to himself and his fellow Companions. His phrase “some of them” refers to the nearest mentioned group—i.e., the Companions.

This report reinforces the meaning of the hadith about the angels’ supplication:
"O Allah, give a replacement to the one who spends (in charity)",
and the hadith:
"Wealth is never decreased by giving in charity."

And while a believer does not rely on worldly reward, his true goal being the reward of the Hereafter, the Lord of the Worlds shows us some of His mercy in this life to encourage our hearts toward the reward of the next life. This is true for the sincere and obedient one, whereas for others, it may merely be a form of gradual entrapment (istidraj).

The Forgotten Merit of Mahmud ibn Sebuktigin and the Misconstrued Merit of Mehmed the Conqueror

In recent days, amid the events of the Pakistan–India war—may Allah break the strength of the Hindus and grant victory and safety to the Muslims—I have noticed frequent references to this hadith:

Ahmad said in his Musnad (22396):
“Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, and so did Baqiyyah, who said: ‘Abdullah ibn Salim and Abu Bakr ibn al-Walid al-Zubaidi narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn al-Walid al-Zubaidi, from Luqman ibn ‘Amir al-Wusabi, from ‘Abd al-A‘la ibn ‘Adi al-Bahrani, from Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, from the Prophet ﷺ who said:
‘Two groups from my nation Allah has protected from the Fire: a group that invades India, and a group that will be with ‘Isa ibn Maryam.’”

The hadith is also found in al-Nasa’i’s al-Mujtaba, al-Bukhari’s al-Tarikh al-Kabir, Ibn Abi ‘Asim’s al-Jihad, and others.
It is an authentic (sahih) hadith.

And I do not know how, in discussing this hadith, people failed to apply it to the conqueror of India and destroyer of its idols—Mahmud ibn Sebuktigin. People frequently refer to the virtue of Yazid for participating in the first naval expedition, and they constantly cite the virtue of Mehmed the Conqueror in the hadith:
“Verily, Constantinople shall be conquered, and what a great commander its commander shall be, and what a great army that army shall be”—despite the fact that this hadith is weak.
Yet they use it to bolster their beliefs, even though they claim their beliefs are not built on solitary (ahad) reports!

Mahmud al-Ghaznawi—Mahmud ibn Sebuktigin—was the conqueror of India, and the mention of this hadith necessitates that we recognize it as a merit in his favor.
But this man is forgotten—perhaps due to his firmness regarding theological matters. Allah knows best. He used to curse the Ash‘aris from the pulpit, and the general public is unaware that he was the one who opened India.

Ibn Kathir said in al-Bidaya wa’l-Nihaya [15/510, Dar Hajr ed.]:
"In that year, Yamīn al-Dawlah Mahmud ibn Sebuktigin invaded the lands of India, conquered major cities, seized immense wealth, and captured some of their kings. One of them, the king of Kashi, fled when Mahmud conquered it and broke its idols. Mahmud then dressed him in a belt and tied it around his waist, after strong resistance, cut off his finger, then released him—to humiliate him and to show the greatness of Islam and its people."

Ibn Taymiyyah said in Bayan Talbis al-Jahmiyyah:
“Some of the writers among the deniers mentioned that they (i.e., theologians) debated in the presence of the ruler of the time, Mahmud ibn Sebuktigin, who was among the best Muslim rulers of the East in terms of Islam, intellect, religiosity, jihad, and leadership in the late fourth century Hijri. During the caliphate of al-Qadir, the preaching of the heretical Batinis who were then based in Egypt had spread widely.”

Then Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah continued:
"Mahmud ibn Sebuktigin adopted in his kingdom that the people of innovation should be cursed from the pulpits. So the Jahmiyyah, Rafidah, Haruriyyah (Kharijites), Mu‘tazilah, and Qadariyyah were cursed, and the Ash‘aris were also cursed, which led to disputes as a result."

Muhammad al-Tahir ibn ‘Ashur wrote in his essay on the renewers (mujaddidun):
“Sultan Mahmud ibn Sebuktigin al-Ghaznawi, known as Yamīn al-Dawlah, took power in Ghazni in 388 AH. He was among the strongest rebels who rose against the Abbasid Caliphate, and through his wars, he reached all the dominions that had broken away from the Abbasids. In 392 AH, he resolved to do something that would atone for his past fighting against Muslims during the founding of his rule. So he determined to conquer India for Islam.
He began preparing for the invasion of India, entered its borders, and began to conquer its lands and compel its people to Islam.
The wars continued back and forth, and each truce was followed by more fighting. The kings of India would revolt every time Yamīn al-Dawlah withdrew. Until, in 406 AH, he launched a decisive campaign, assembling a great army, beginning with the conquest of Afghan lands, then passing into India, crossing the Ganges River, and launching major campaigns.
When the Indian rulers saw they could not resist him, they sought peace and pledged obedience to him. Thus, he was able to bring India under Muslim control in the years 409–410 AH, and the land became Islamic.”

He has many other merits which I have detailed in a separate article—such as protecting the Iraqi pilgrims when they were blocked by bandits, aiding the people of Nishapur during a severe famine, and breaking the power of the Isma‘ili Batinis.

His memory and virtue faded due to the propaganda of the deniers (of divine attributes) and the negligence of the people of truth in remembering their own figures.
Sultan Mahmud had strong opposition to the Ash‘aris, so much so that Abu al-Walid al-Baji accused him of poisoning Ibn Furak—an accusation likely driven by the intensity of their theological dispute. They even labeled him as adhering to the Karramiyyah school, as they often do with those who oppose them.

Shafi‘i scholars say he abandoned his Hanafi school out of love for following hadith after realizing the truth lies in the Prophetic tradition.
Allah knows best the accuracy of this claim, but it is supported by his close relationship with Abu Hamid al-Isfarayini, the reviver of the Shafi‘i school.

As the Jahmi researcher Muhanna al-Muhanna said on his account on X (formerly Twitter):
"Although Sultan Mahmud ibn Sebuktigin was a great warrior, he belonged to the Karramiyyah sect, a corporealist group who are the ideological forefathers of today’s Salafis in creed."

So, is it permissible in your view for someone to be a great mujahid yet have a corrupt creed?
Then why do you boast that so-and-so is “from among us” when he might be flawed?
But Mahmud al-Ghaznawi had something more: a hadith in his favor—and it is stronger than what you cite in support of Mehmed the Conqueror. Reflect on this.

Chapter On How Humanists Resemble Idol Worshippers...

Allah the Most High said:

“And they assign to Allah a share of what He has produced of crops and livestock, and they say, ‘This is for Allah’—so they claim—‘and this is for our partners (idols).’ But what is for their partners never reaches Allah, while what is for Allah goes to their partners. Evil is what they decide.” [Surah Al-An’am, 6:136]

This verse shows that the idol worshippers honored their idols more than they honored the Lord of the Worlds, even though they acknowledged that He is greater than them.

Al-Ṭabarī said in his Tafsir:

13902 – Muhammad ibn ‘Amr narrated to us, he said: Abū ‘Āṣim narrated to us, he said: ‘Īsā narrated to us, from Ibn Abī Najīḥ, from Mujāhid concerning Allah’s words: “And they assign to Allah a share...” — he said: They would designate a portion of their crops for Allah and another portion for their idols and partners. If wind carried away what was designated for Allah and it ended up with the idols’ portion, they would leave it. But if anything from the idols’ portion ended up with Allah’s portion, they would return it, saying: ‘Allah is rich and does not need this!’ As for the livestock, they were the sā'ibah and baḥīrah which they named.”

Reflect on their statement: “Allah is rich and does not need this.”
They recognized Allah’s richness but failed to recognize their utter need for Him and their obligation to worship Him alone.

This is similar to the attitude of the heretics and humanist advocates of our time.

When they speak about acts of worship—like faith in the unseen, prayer, and remembrance of Allah—which are the sole rights of Allah Almighty, they belittle them and say: “What’s the benefit of these?”

And those who are more "reasonable" among them still reduce these acts to human benefit. For example, they might say: “Prayer teaches time management,” or “It’s a form of exercise,” or “It promotes social harmony.”
They interpret the verse:

“Indeed, prayer prevents immorality and wrongdoing”

as only referring to the violation of human rights.

But there is no doubt that proper prayer restrains from harming others—and also from all evil, even that which people don’t consider harmful, such as consensual fornication, which is still an abomination, or forbidden gazes and so on.

And when they see a disbeliever giving charity or doing humanitarian work or defending the oppressed, they say: “How can this person not enter Paradise?”—
completely ignoring the right of Allah to be worshipped alone and sincerely.

Thus, what is for Allah, they diminish unless it includes something for themselves.
And what is for themselves, they exalt, even if it is not done for Allah.
They even wish Paradise for such a person.

This is exactly like the idol worshippers condemned in the verse.

This is a statement by Hassan (Abu Flah), one of the biggest content creators in the Arab world, followed by millions of youth and children.

He mentioned such a statement, which many may find appealing—especially since he cited a verse.
