There is no formal, coordinated global effort equivalent to a new Bretton Woods conference or systemic reform currently taking place.

However, there is significant discussion and incremental reform efforts focused on updating the governance, representation, and priorities of the Bretton Woods institutions, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank, to address modern challenges like climate change, inequality, and shifting economic power.

These discussions involve calls for changes in voting power, leadership selection, lending practices, and alignment with sustainable development goals, but they fall short of a wholesale restructuring of the global financial architecture.

Currency changes do not happen only because of Bretton Woods. While the Bretton Woods system (1944-1971) established a fixed exchange rate system where currencies were pegged to the US dollar, which was in turn convertible to gold, it wasn't the only factor influencing currency fluctuations.

The collapse of Bretton Woods in 1971 led to floating exchange rates, where currencies are determined by market forces of supply and demand.
