kalimantan, sumatra, and papua are currently facing an environmental crisis due to the widespread forest and land fires. thousands of active hotspots are detected, and hectares of land are burned, heavily affecting wild animals and civilians.
nusa tenggara timur is fighting the aftermath of a 7.7-magnitude earthquake near flores on august 15, 2026. most residents were forced to evacuate, 80 people were found dead, and over 900 people were injured.
aceh is still fighting for the recovery of the flood and landslide damage that struck aceh and sumatra in late 2025
