바이든은 최근 엑슨모빌의 배당금 인상에 대한 의견을 트위터에 남김. "믿기지 않지만 주주들에게 환원을 하는 것은 미국인의 물가를 낮추는 데 도움이 되지 않는다"라고 말함. ESG 정책 밀어붙이면서 오일회사한테 투자하지 않았으면서 정유기업이 돈 많이 버는 걸로 뭐라하는 게 코미디 그 자체임. 최근 오일메이저의 3분기 실적을 보면 자본지출(Captial Expenditure)은 주주환원(Buybacks & Dividends)보다 훨씬 적음. 유가가 높은 수준을 오래 유지할 거란 보장이 없어서 정유기업들은 굳이 증설에 투자하지 않고 오히려 주주에게 환원하는 걸 택했다고 보면 됨. 최근에 유가는 떨어져도 정유주는 상승하는 현상을 보이는데 이는 유가가 $70 이상의 수준만 유지하면 여전히 정유주의 수익은 잘 나올 거라는 걸 반증한다고 볼 수 있음

서부 아프리카의 상황을 보면 노후된 유전과 절도로 인해 올해 원유생산이 또 감소하나봄. 이게 아프리카 만의 상황이 아닌게 문제. 절도가 좀 골때린 이야기긴 한데 저소득국가에서는 유가가 이리 떡상하고 가처분소득이 낮아지면 절도에 대한 유인이 충분히 생기긴 함
