The 2,000-member Marubo tribe, who live along the Ituí River deep in the Amazon rainforest, were connected to the World Wide Web last September after 20 antennas were donated to them by American entrepreneur Allyson Reneau.
But the internet is already posing problems for the Marubo, with many youngsters in the tribe now hooked on social media and pornography, much to the alarm of elders.
“When it arrived, everyone was happy,” Tsainama Marubo, 73, told The New York Times. “But now, things have gotten worse.”
“Young people have gotten lazy because of the internet,” she explained. “They’re learning the ways of the white people.”
But the internet is already posing problems for the Marubo, with many youngsters in the tribe now hooked on social media and pornography, much to the alarm of elders.

Se você tem ou teve uma experiência negativa dentro da escola que trabalha, isso não anula o fato de escolas católicas existirem.
É cada besteira que aparece desses sabe-tudo de Instagram.
Uma escola católica é uma instituição de ensino que segue os princípios da Igreja Católica e da fé cristã.
As escolas católicas são responsáveis pela educação de milhões de crianças e jovens em todo o mundo. A Igreja Católica opera o maior sistema escolar religioso e não governamental do mundo. Segundo dados da Federação Internacional de Escolas Católicas (FIEC), em 2021, existiam:
- 62.072 escolas católicas em todo o mundo;
- 21,6 milhões de alunos matriculados em escolas católicas;
- 1,5 milhão de professores trabalhando em escolas católicas.
