Dictionary - glossary component for Joomla 4
The component allows you to create a structured list of terms and their definitions in Joomla.
- 2 layouts: Wikipedia style and list
- Search Plugin
- Sort alphabetically
- Adaptive design
The component has been translated into 10 languages.

It can be useful not only for its intended purpose (glossary of terms), but also for creating hub pages on the site. The classic content hub is an informational article that leads to a number of other publications related to a common topic. But it can also be a heading or tag on an information site, a category or listing on an ecommerce site, a reference section, and so on.

Phoca Cart Version 4.0.3 Released
A new version of the popular and free ecommerce extension released.

- Ready for Joomla 4.2
- Added support for SVG Scheme module
Joomla! 5 - Panta Rhei (The follow up)

The Joomla Production Department shares the outcome of the discussions that the last Joomla 5 article generated.

We’ve heard the feedback from the community and made some decisions regarding the Joomla 5 release and the release cycle in general.

If you don’t read anything else, here’s what you need to know:

- Joomla 5 will not include breaking changes for templates and third-party extensions.
- Will not remove any code that was marked as deprecated in Joomla 4.
- Joomla 5 will have a minimum PHP version of PHP 8.1.
- Components that work in Joomla 4 should also work in Joomla 5, as long as they support PHP 8.1.
- Joomla 5 will be released in October 2023. Because of the above points, it will not be a big, painful update like past releases.
- Minor releases will remain on a 6-month schedule but all releases will be shifted to the months of April and October, starting with the 4.3 release in (April 2023).

If you want to know more about the reasoning and details of these decisions, keep reading.
Joomla 4.2.2 Bug Fix Release

Joomla has had support for Web Authentication for some time now and this has worked well since its inclusion. That was until the server of the Fido alliance was no longer reachable due to an outage.
This resulted in Joomla sites trying to contact the Fido alliance server but receiving no response, since the response was taking some time users noticed that their sites were getting slow.

As more sites were trying to reach the Fido server it became even more difficult to contact the server, causing even more disruptions.

This was a very difficult bug to test for as it relied on a third-party server experiencing problems hence it did not come to light while testing 4.2.1

The Joomla 4.2.2 release comes with the Fido token so we no longer have to contact the Fido server every time we need an updated token. This will improve the load times for your site.
DPMedia - a package of file system plugins for Joomla 4
The DPMedia package extends the core Joomla 4 media manager with external file storage, as well as adds image editing and context-sensitive features. It works on Joomla 4 frontend and administator panel.
External cloud storage:
✔️ Google Drive
✔️ Dropbox
✔️ Microsoft One Drive
✔️ Flickr
✔️ FTP folder
✔️ WebDAV folder
✔️ Amazon S3 storage
✔️ site on Joomla 4

In addition, you can also integrate the following photo stocks:
✔️ Unsplash
✔️ Pixabay
✔️ Pexels

Most plugins assume or have settings for copying images from remote storage to the site's local file system. Moreover, thumbnails of files are being created for media manager (10 pcs. per request) during the process of copying.

Image editing plugins:
✔️ Line (allows you to draw lines while editing in Joomla media manager)
✔️ Filters (imposes filters a la sepia, black and white, etc.)
✔️ Text (overlays text on the image)
✔️ Shapes (allows you to draw geometric shapes on the picture)
✔️ Convert (allows you to "save as" an image using Squoosh, including WebP)
✔️ Emoji (draws emoji)
✔️ Borders (adds frames to the picture)

Additional plugins
Plugins that extend the core with constraints and context-sensitive local adapters.
So, for example, the plugin Filesystem - User plugin in the package allows you to restrict a user in the folder assigned to them or, together with the Restricted plugin, receive files only in certain sections of Joomla. The References plugin allows you to track the use of an image file in articles, categories and other sections of Joomla. It is possible to see exactly where this file is used in a modal window. When you rename a file (using the Joomla media manager), all links to that file can be updated automatically.
Some plugins of the package are available only via paid subscription.

Inception! — Nested Subform Custom fields for Joomla! 4
A custom field plugin for nested subforms in Joomla! 4 from Nicholas K. Dionysopoulos.

What is this?
This is a custom field plugin which allows you to create sub–forms (a repeatable list consisting of other custom fields), just like Joomla's subform custom field type — but with a twist!

Joomla's subform field does not allow you to use a subform field as another sub–form's field. This plugin allows you to do exactly that: nest the subforms, any level deep. However, just like the movie “Inception”, the more nesting levels you add the more complicated and slow things become.

Also, be careful! You can create an inception field A which contains an inception field B which contains an inception field A — this will break both the edit page and the display of whatever has this kind of infinitely nested structure. There is no protection against doing something like that — which is why Joomla does not allow nested subforms to begin with… Unlike Joomla, I think that you are a responsible adult and can be trusted not to do something stupid. Right?
If so, here is the link to get this plugin:
JoomShopping 5.1 released
Update of a popular ecommerce solution for Joomla. For several releases, developers have been working on compatibility patches for PHP 8, however, new functionality has appeared in the minor version.

What's new?
1. Canonical categories for products
Now you can specify the main, canonical category for a product if it is assigned to several categories. Thereby, you can remove duplicate products that occurred earlier. You can read more on the JoomShopping Developer Forum. The problem is rather amusing, now solved. Now, if the product's main category is 1, then when a product is seen in category 2, the canonical category 1 will be taken into account when building the product's url.
This functionality is optional. It can be enabled in JoomShopping - Settings - Other options - Use the main category for the product. The canonical category field only appears if multiple product categories are selected.
2. Product Image SEO
When uploading images to a product, category or manufacturer, it became possible to:
- specify the title of the image (it used to be both alt and title of the lightbox link)
- [new] specify image alt
- [new] specify the name of the image. "Image Name" is the name of the file, that is, when uploading, your file will be renamed and saved under a new name.
