● Members: here are 14 member countries in OPEC. They are Iraq, Iran, UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Algeria, Gabon, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Ecuador, Angola and Venezuela.
● Ecuador suspended its membership in 1992. It re- joined in 2007 and again withdrew its membership in 2020. In 2018, Qatar left OPEC

● Released by: World Health Organization (WHO)
● Purpose: The report provides the progress made by 21 malaria eliminating countries as part of the “E-2020 Initiative”.
E-2020 Initiative:
● WHO had launched the E-2020 initiative in 2017.The initiative has supported 21 countries in their efforts to get to zero malaria cases within the 2020 timeline.
E-2025 Initiative:
● Building on the successes of the E-2020, WHO has launched the E-2025 initiative.
● As part of this initiative, WHO has identified 25 countries that have the potential to stamp out malaria within a 5-year timeline.
● These countries will receive specialized support and technical guidance from WHO as they work towards the target of zero malaria.

History: an ‘Enforcement Unit’ was formed, in the Department of Economic Affairs, for handling Exchange Control Laws violations under Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1947 (FERA ’47).
Renamed: In the year 1957, this Unit was renamed as ‘Enforcement Directorate’.
Ministry: part of the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.
Mandate: Organization is mandated with the task of enforcing the provisions of two special fiscal laws – Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA) and Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA).
Special Courts:
— For the trial of an offence punishable under section 4 of PMLA, the Central Government (in consultation with the Chief Justice of the High Court), designates one or more Sessions Court as Special Court(s). The court is also called “PMLA Court”.
— Any appeal against any order passed by PMLA court can directly be filed in the High Court for that jurisdiction.
