◆Coral reefs are large underwater structures composed of the skeletons of colonial marine invertebrates called coral
◆corals have a symbiotic relationship with an algae called the zooxanthellae
◆Known as the rainforests of the sea" for their biodiversity,


◆FAVOURABLE CONDITIONS FOR FORMATION OF CORAL REEF:

1.Warm tropical oceans with minimum temperature of 20 degree (30 degree north and 25 degree south latitudes)
2.Oceanic water free of sedimentation;
3.Transparent parts of ocean bodies;
4.Relatively low salinity ocean bodies

🔹National Database for Unorganised Workers or e-Sharm portal

🔳e-Sharm portal will be a single-point reference that will help authorities to reach out to and track workers across informal sector. It will also offer welfare in times of crisis.

🔳NDUM will comprises of migrant workers, construction workers, gig and platform workers, domestic workers, street vendors, agriculture workers, migrant workers and other such sub-groups of unorganised workers.

What is Djibouti Code of Conduct/ Jeddah Amendment(DCOC/JA)

● It was established in 2009.It is a grouping on maritime matters aimed at repression of piracy and armed robbery against ships in the Western Indian Ocean Region, the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.

Members: It comprises 18 member states adjoining the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, the East Coast of Africa and Island countries in the Indian Ocean Region.

Why in News? India has joined the Djibouti Code of Conduct/ Jeddah Amendment (DCOC/JA) as Observer.

Ways and Means Advances(WMA) Scheme:

● Ways and Means Advances(WMA) Scheme was introduced in 1997.

Purpose: These are temporary loan facilities provided by the Reserve Bank of India(RBI) to the central and state governments to meet mismatches in the cash flows of their receipts and expenditures.

Interest Rate: It is currently at the existing repo rate and the tenure is for three months.However, if the tenure is extended,it will be treated as an overdraft which is charged above repo rate.

Types of WMA:

Special WMA: It is extended against the collateral of the government securities held by the State Government and

Normal WMA: It is based on a three-year average of actual revenue and capital expenditure of the state.It is not collateral based.

-
is an electronic platform for facilitating the financing / discounting of trade receivables of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through multiple financiers.

- These receivables can be due from corporates and other buyers, including Government Departments and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
