Textiles Committee

◾️ It is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
◾️ It has been formed to ensure the quality of textiles and textile machinery both for internal/consumption and export purpose.
◾️ Important functions: establishing laboratories for the testing of textiles and textile machinery and providing for their inspection and examination.

‘Pinanga Andamanensis’

◾️ It is an IUCN critically endangered species and one of the least known among the endemic palms of the Andaman Islands.
◾️ The name is derived from ‘Penang’, the modern-day Malaysian state.
◾️ Its entire population of some 600 specimens naturally occurs only
in a tiny, evergreen forest pocket in South Andaman’s Mount Harriet National Park.

Gogabeel is Bihar’s first community reserve:

Gogabeel, an ox-bow lake in Bihar’s Katihar district, has been declared as the state’s first ‘Community Reserve’.

Gogabeel is formed from the flow of the rivers Mahananda and Kankhar in the north and the Ganga in the south and east. It is the fifteenth Protected Area (PA) in Bihar.
