Yes. LibreOffice works just as good as MS Office, and it comes with most Linux distros.

All options are liberal. I wish a patriot would start one!!!!
Friends, scroll up and look at the Search Engine poll. The trust many of us once had for Google, is gone. Totally gone. I agree with many of you, I like Brave Search. And there is a new one called Presearch that looks interesting. I think maybe we can do better, but it will take a little while to build a good one if we do. We can talk about that in the future. Today, we will start getting everyone on the free newsletter and blog, and we purchased 250 seats for our upcoming course. Details later today. Thanks everyone.

LibreOffice is not any more unstable than MS Office or anything else. I have been using LibreOffice for over 10 years, on all my person computers (including wife's & kids' computers) I also use MS Office 2016 at work, so I have good feel for that. They're both the same for all practical purposes.
Sure you could nitpick and say that MS Office does this and that. You could also go the other way, and nitpick, and say LibreOffice does this and that, and that MS Office doesn't do it.
For example, MS Office doesn't handle LibreOffice Basic macros, and MS Office (as well as MS Windows) doesn't recognize Linux file systems, such as ext3 and ext4. It's not like LibreOffice Basic and Linux file systems are top secret. They're open source, and they're used a lot. Microsoft is just pretending they're not there to keep you vendor locked in.

I just installed a new to me machine with it. It's an old HP Pavilion, had windows on it. I simply wiped it using Linux Mint 20 installed from thumb drive and it's working fine. So, for the most part yes. Only issue I had was the CMOS had been set weird and the wifi wouldn't work. I fixed that by factory reset on the CMOS. (There were other issues but all hard ware related to a mostly broken computer, but then I am an electronics engineer so I repaired all the hard ware things before proceeding.)

welcome to Freedom. I've been using Linux for more than 2 decades on and off. From way back in the 80s using slackware to Red Hat to other distros. I still keep a windows machine for things for the wife, but it's rarely used these days, and has old XP on it still. I think that the time has come to eliminate all the big tech out of our lives. As an electronics engineer, I know that there are still other ways to get at us, but this makes it more difficult. Good luck.

Here’s the thing about fear (just putting it out there). Fear is good, especially when one is in grave danger. It’s what tells us to run in the other direction or get out of the way. Yes, fear can stop us from doing something, but fear can also be good. This information and what Jeffery is telling us is the kind of “fear” that’s telling us to do things differently bc there is potential danger. Nothing wrong with being prepared. Thanks Jeffery!

If you are one of my former Twitter followers, you know the story about how I worked for a Wall Street investment bank, Lehman Brothers, for a while in my late teens, early 20’s, it was headquartered in New York City. That was when I met a good friend, John Farrell, who stood out to me as a regular guy amongst a bunch of fake people. John and I learned a lot about business back then, he became very successful but always drove the same pickup truck and never changed who he was, regardless of his paycheck. On Sept. 11th, 2001, my friend John was working on the 104th floor of Two World Trade Center, at the Investment Bank of Sandler O’Neill. He never went home to his family that day. I had just spoken with John by phone a few weeks prior, pretty much all he ever talked about was his kids. RIP John. You’re on my mind today. A whole lot. As are a whole lot of other things. We will never forget. RIP. http://www.legacy.com/Sept11/Story.aspx?PersonID=131690&psl=1

Walking on sunshine. Took an old Lenovo T400 and installed Fedora 34 on it. The acid test was could it run my Fujitsu ScanSnap. Once I found the right page with the instructions it fired right up. I’m now moving all my machines to Linux as fast as I can.
