Almighty God, on this blessed day, our hearts overflow with thanks and adoration for the glorious resurrection of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Through His conquering of death and sin, He has opened the gates of eternal life to all who place their faith in Him.

Just as the first Easter filled the disciples with profound joy and hope, may this day ignite within us an unwavering faith and love for our risen Savior. Let the triumph of His resurrection resonate deep within our souls, with the good news of Your amazing grace and mercy.

On this day of celebration, we pray that You would embolden us to be bold ambassadors of Your truth, fearlessly proclaiming the gospel to a broken world that badly needs Your saving grace. Grant us the courage to share the message of the empty tomb, the message of hope that transcends all earthly trials.

We give thanks for the ultimate sacrifice of Your Son, who willingly gave His life so that we might have everlasting life. May the joy of this Easter Sunday reach every aspect of our lives, serving as a constant reminder of Your unfailing love and the promise of eternal life in Your heavenly kingdom.

Some Linux users wrote in with questions about the “XZ Utils” security threat that affected some Linux distributions in March 2024.

Good news: Linux Mint, and CNIX Linux, the two most popular Linux distributions used by Jeff.pro subscribers, were not affected.

The “XZ Utils” software in other distributions has since been patched/fixed. This was a “confidence man” compromise, achieved by a unknown personality calling himself “Jia Tan”, who worked his way in to the group of developers for the “XZ Utils” linux compression software by gaining their trust over a period of about three years, 2021-2024.

“Jia Tan”, whoever he was, kept office hours corresponding to the time zone representing daytime working hours in Asia. He gained the confidence of the XZ Utils software developers and they eventually let him start signing code releases. Then he snuck in a “backdoor” to the popular compression software used in many Linux distros. Interesting story and it sure serves to wake up everyone in the Linux community to stay vigilant about security threats (a good thing) it faces every few years. Still ironic when you consider Microsoft Windows has so many vunerabilities and flaws they set aside one day a month, called “Microsoft Patch Tuesday”, to update the constant flow of security threats in Windows.

Linux remains, by far, the more secure Operating System than Windows. It’s transparent - we can see what’s in the code.

Everywhere we look around us, “big tech” companies have lost respect for the American people.

Their default mode of operations is to assume they can treat us however they want, because the way they see it, we have no other choices than to use the systems and services they build for us, however they want to, with no push back or resistance. (They’re wrong about that, by the way …)

Today, they acquire, sell and resell our data with zero oversight or consequence for the way they abuse it.

They are able to innovate and shift and move around regulations faster than the current federal and state legislators are able to implement new laws.

And they are influencing the “media” more than the old “media” itself, which is dying.

What’s the solution?

There’s only one way out — Americans need to wake up to the reality that “big tech” companies are in it for themselves, NOT to help people, and NOT for the good of the country.

Only then can we start on a path back to sanity.

Recently unsealed documents from a class action lawsuit reveal that Meta utilized spyware to monitor user activities on competing platforms like Snapchat and YouTube. The lawsuit, initiated in 2020 by two Facebook users in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Meta (formerly Facebook), accused the company of anticompetitive behavior and misuse of user data.

In 2023, attorney Brian J. Dunne, representing the plaintiffs, submitted evidence detailing Meta's use of Onavo's software to clandestinely observe competitors, including Snapchat.
