Chuck, just in case you didn't know, Mint comes with the driver for the Macbook's Broadcom wireless that most distros don't come with. So you will be able to enable wireless without a reboot and just by going into the driver utility in Mint. If you knew already, apologies....just trying to get word out to people who have Macs that about any Mac outside the M1 processor Macs can still work with Linux.

Slightly different route then many
Wished I had kept my first PC - a 386sx local built. But I didn’t - massive street cred loss. 😢
*Bought at $195 open box special HP from Best Buy
* using Ubuntu 20.4 from USB
* WiFi and printers are happy
* going to wash away Windows
* I have docs stored off cloud and on secured drives
* going to move primary laptops over after a 2 week test
Good stuff!

My only computer is a 2015 MacBook Pro. Can it be converted to Linux?

Yea! I've got Linux Mint installed and am working on installing apps. I've got Telegram up and running and I'm so pleased with myself! Not bad for an old dog!

Nice! After using Ubuntu for 24 hours. I’m all in!!!
Friends, we will be opening slots for our first FOSS/Linux course, first thing early tomorrow (or possibly late tonight). After you enroll, it will start Monday, and I will take everyone on a journey to learning Linux from zero, starting at the "beginner" level, for at least three months. I will do the first class. We are using a very nice LMS (learning management system) so you will be able to study and do quizzes throughout the week on your phone, tablet or on your computer in a web browser. We purchased 250 seats for the LMS software because that is about what we estimate is correct for the first batch. If you want to be in our course and move along with our group, be sure to be ready to sign-up tomorrow when we post the link. If you want to learn on your own, there are tons of free resources we will continue to post links to. Another good site where you can find Linux courses is Udemy. Thanks everyone!

P.S. I am sure we will do some more classes so don't worry if you are not in the first one, but someone else will probably be teaching. I do plan to continue writing and posting on the free blog and newsletter, though, for the foreseeable future.
A bunch of people are asking how much, first of all no one has to buy anything if you just want to use our free blog and newsletter. We will post a lot of content there over time. It all just takes a while to get going but we are working as fast as we can. Our paid course is $20/month, some people asked for it to be lower but we are producing a high quality product and actually paying for a mobile Learning Management System (LMS) software ourselves so that is how we will start. Udemy has a bunch of good courses, you can check the course ratings, many of them go on sale there for $19.95 - $39.95. Our is a monthly subscription but you can cancel at any time, most casual Linux users can probably learn everything they need in a month or two. Thanks!!

Here is a audio recording of tonight's Telegram voice call for those who were not able to be there live. Best wishes to you, Patriots, as you set out to discover the very robust world of Free and Open Source technology. If you, like us, are ready to leave the spying and abuses of the "big tech" Windows/MacOS/Android operating systems, Linux is Digital Freedom!
