While we are bragging on printers, I will say my Brother MFC-J805DW works really well. I don't recall any issues getting it set up. But I have never connected it to wifi, I just plug it in with a cable. I had an Epson when I first started moving to Linux; I had to look around a bit to find the correct driver but it worked fine once I found it.

SCOOP: Microsoft is offering something it calls "operator call protection." What is that? In the simplest terms, Microsoft is asking to listen in on all of your phone calls, live, so they can send them to an AI for "analysis."

Through its Azure cloud computing platform, Microsoft's stated purpose is to prevent fraud and scam calls — a worthy goal, but why should the same industry training machines to think the Founding Fathers were black be trusted with listening to ALL of your phone calls?

Microsoft promises that the data will be destroyed and that the service won't be politically biased, but to put it bluntly, why should we believe this? What keeps them from quietly changing the rules later, when nobody is paying attention? Or colluding with the intelligence community? But more importantly, why should we ever let phone companies turn over our private conversations to the people who own ChatGPT?

Imagine this: You receive a call from a group trying to raise money or awareness about some cause. Then, one of their words trips a switch over at Microsoft. Maybe it's "Covid." Maybe it's "election fraud," or "January 6," or "Joe Biden." And suddenly, while you're still on the call, you get a text message from your phone provider: "Hang up, this is a fraudulent call."

You think a system like this won't be abused?

Microsoft needs to scuttle this, immediately, and if they don't, Republicans in Congress should make it clear they will make them scuttle it.

I spent a quiet Sunday afternoon getting Linux Mint on a 2016 Macbook Pro. SUCCESS! I followed one of Jeff's videos in his $20 per month course and it all went perfectly! The only issue I had was getting the boot USB going. You have to place the Linux file and the burn file on the computer, not the thumb drive. Also, I wanted to partition my Mac, but it would NOT purge deleted items! So my computer said I didn't have enough room to partition. I dumped my files to a separate drive and erased the whole thing and started over. I'm on Telegram on Linux typing this and could not be more excited to get OUT of Apple! I have three other Apple computers, but this one will be my "communication" and "education" computer while I learn everything about Linux. A wonderful aspect of Linux is that it's not using up a bunch of resources in the background so it's very fast. Thank you so much, Jeff, for the feeling of FREEDOM!! I'll stick with the program so that I can study your videos even more and to help support everything you're doing. Kids, if you haven't tried it, get with Jeff and get 'er done!
