βBig techβ continues pushing invasive technologies like mandatory AI that can store, track and analyze absolutely everything you do on your Microsoft Windows computer, and automatic storage that erodes your privacy by storing all of your personal information in the "cloud" where it can easily be duplicated, analyed, sent and re-sent all around the world, completely out of your control.
"Big tech" is now on a path of introducing these "conveniences" without end, whether we want it or not, taking our data to build extensive user profiles. It is not going to stop.
The Jeff.pro channel, since first launching more than two years ago, has presented a crucial alternative: learn Unix-like systems like Linux and BSD to disconnect from "big tech" systems with their mandatory tracking, get back your digital freedom, and keep control of your computing now and for the future in the ways that we truly need. This is really important, moreso than many may realize at first.
Disconnecting from them, and βtheir termsβ, while re-connecting on your terms, and getting to a safe place for your computing, now and for your future, is what Jeff.pro is here to help you accomplish.

The ability to disconnect from increasingly orwellian "big tech" Operating System software like the Bill Gates Operating System, Microsoft Windows, was, and is so important, that our group made an entire channel out of it.
Since then, you've learned how you can switch your computer to Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Zorin, or any number of Linux-based Operating Systems which have none of the integrated "mandatory AI", no requirement to use "cloud files", no grabbing of your personal information.
These Linux-based systems freeze your computing at a point in time (now) where you're still current--we can do our web browsing, our word processing, safeguard our files and data, and other tasks we need to be able to do, with none of the survelliance or orwellian garbage we don't want.
And, they're transparent. Open Source. We can see what's in them--and what's NOT in them. When we switch to Linux, we are effectively declaring our independence from big tech, on our computers.

That's it. After approximately 30 years of technological development in the United States and around the world. We are left with Windows, MacOS, or, the Operating System alternative built by we the people, "Unix-like" Operating Systems, such as Linux.
The first two are headed in an increasingly Orwellian direction with no end in sight. The latter, mostly consisting of various Linux distributions (Mint, Ubuntu, etc.) are still fine and safe for people to use, but those distributions must be properly organized, maintained, and monitored for our future. In many ways, modern Linux distributions are indistinguishable from using Windows or MacOS in terms of functionality. You can do everything you need to do, on your terms, with Linux's stable code base and superior system security.
Yet, as good as it is, most Americans have not had much exposure to Linux distributions. They don't even know these alternatives exist, or the importance of taking action, today--not tomorrow--to pull ourselves back from the brink as a nation and re-claim our digital independence.
In its first two years of existence, the Jeff.pro group has managed to increase this awareness among mainstream North America by about 10,000 users we've helped switch over. That is not a insignificant amount, but, it's really just a beginning.

One of the primary initial goals of this group, stated two years ago in November, 2021, was to build the framework for a new Open Source Operating System, using the Linux kernel, that would be developed by Americans who are concerned with the values set forth by the American constitution.
It was a massive project, involving many judgement calls by experienced people, decisions about where to start the project from, the cataloging and organization of thousands of package files containing tens of thousands of inner files, all arranged in such a way to set out on a logical path that the project could follow and be reliable for many years in to the future.
At the end of the day, we abandoned more complex plans that we had in the beginning, so that we could keep the first version of our custom-built Operating System as simple, stable and proven as can be.
We ended up following the general design parameters of the Linux distribution that has proven to be the most popular with people in our group, Linux Mint. That being said, our distribution is not based on Mint. It actually starts higher up the Linux tree than Mint does, close to mainline Linux, one level below a root distribution, which is an ideal place to work from for what we intend to grow in to eventually one of the most popular Linux distributions.
However, its structure is similar to Mint, which means it is easy for people to use, with a slow update cycle. Once it is installed on a computer, it will just work. It is Open Source, of course--meaning, all of the source is open for anyone to see. And it is compatible with all of the software Ubuntu Linux and Linux Mint use.

The VT100 "dumb terminal".
Anyone else use one of these in the late 1970's/early 1980's?
Back then, "dumb terminals" were a keyboard/monitor pair used to connect to large minicomputer/mainframe computers, which ran multi-user Operating Systems like UNIX.
Among "terminals", the VT100 may have been the best known in history. Many "terminal emulation" programs still emulate the VT100 on modern computers.

Free as in Freedom
Many Americans don't even know the Free Software movement exists. But they should.
As "Artificial Intelligence", "AI", "cloud computing" and other forms of data mining and digital surveillance force their way in to modern society at an alarming rate, the Free Software movement has taken on new importance for keeping ourselves connected on our terms, not those of the Orwellian globalists.
Learn how to freeze your technology in time, keep your computer world clean from the dystopian technology creep and data theft, while staying connected in a healthy way on YOUR terms with Free and Open Source Software and the Linux Operating System.

PRAYER
Holy Spirit, as we enter this holy season of Advent, help us to become instruments of Your wisdom and truth.
Fill us with the grace of Christ our Lord, that we may bear witness to the good news of salvation, drawing all people into the hope of Your kingdom.
Inspire our waiting hearts, we pray, and make straight our paths to receive the Prince of Peace.
In this time of anticipation, draw us nearer to You, that we may behold the fullness of the Father revealed in the Son.
We pray all this in the powerful name of Our Lord, Savior, and the Truth that sets us free, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

This group has reached a significant milestone: Releasing our own computer Operating System brand, for now, in the form of a open source Linux distribution. Complete replacement software for Microsoft Windows or MacOS, for any intel or amd compatible desktop or laptop. Free from adware, spyware, CCP interference or any kind of censorship. We can control and customize it per the needs of our users, all the way down to the core.
Yes, a significant milestone that opens many new possibilities. It will take some time for what it truly means to sink in. It is still very much a early release, but it is completley functional, stable, independent and reliable even in its first release version.

Thank you for waking people up to the evils of Windows and Apple and helping us to find freedom in the Foss world. I've taken your classes and it's changed my life. Congratulations! I'm looking forward to seeing what this distro has to offer!!

A starting point. A place to start over from. CNIX is based on the Linux kernel today, but doesn't have to be. It is versatile. New release versions can be built with other "Unix-like" kernels such as BSD, or a custom-patched Linux kernel, if anything needs to be removed from the code. With our own brand, there is no limit as to where we can go from here.

I tried the USB live boot from the iso and it runs well on my 10 year old machine. I come from Linux Mint and will need to pick up on the XFCE.org desktop environment.

I am impressed by CNIX. Downloaded the iso, and to check it out, I fired up quickemu to install it on a 16 Gbyte qcow2 file. Worked like a charm.
