America hasnt declared war as the Constitution requires since 1942 (FACT).

Our “superpower status” originally came from the superiority of a Christian nation that understood it was no better than the next one over, but that the exceptionalism was in recognizing we are sinners and no better than others.

That Christian awareness formed this nation and produced fruit that culminated in the Greatest Generation. And when they left (in the millions) to defend strangers being killed by tyrants around the world, I believe God blessed their efforts bc they feared Him.

Upon military victory, evil men crept in unawares and corrupted American power structures and American “greatness” has been sustained by the false notion that foreign wars & military power made America great.

This subtle nuance now haunts us, as our leaders dont fear God and have no capacity to solve problems without military force. This puts the people in danger bc triggering events (like what I believe we are seeing today in Israel) dont get the reply of wisdom & prudence but military action.

And bc that behavior is trained in America, that response will be seen as noble, moral, ethical, caring, loving, etc.

And those calling attention to the folly of escalating military force will be castigated as isolationists, or, as we may see, antisemites or Nazis or heartless or heretics of “replacement theology.”

Emotion is levered in the short term against the wisdom that would discern not to live by the sword when those who love death wield theirs.

PRAYER

Almighty God, we humbly pray, look with mercy upon our broken world filled with conflict and strife. We pray for Your peace to end all wars and heal people in the ways they truly need to be healed. Turn the hearts of world leaders away from the mindset of corrupt self-enrichment to choose diplomacy and justice as You would declare it right.

We pray for a spiritual awakening in our world, that people may turn away from greed, ignorant hatred, and violence falsely committed in the name of ideologies and policies manufactured to keep us in never ending conflicts. Open eyes to the truth, help the world see through the lies that serve to benefit large corporations, those who control them and the industries of war.

With Your mighty love, we pray, embolden us with courage to seek and speak truth, transform us that we may walk in the path You set forth. We ask this with hopeful hearts, with our faith in You as we await the glorious return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
