"the Windows Operating System functions as an adversarial force ... with the ever present will of Bill Gates looming over your shoulder at every turn. Windows operates with a mind of its own ... it's become almost pavlovian. You can turn off all the switches, but Microsoft is still watching.

…Microsoft's business practices are soft extortion…it's no wonder that people can feel this. Their b.s. detectors kick in to high gear with every questionable decision that Microsoft makes. There should be no illusion about this. Microsoft forces its will upon you … Windows engages in what can only be reasonably described as malicious behavior.

The thing is ... Windows is the dominant O.S., and people have been dealing with that slow abridgement of their digital liberty for literally decades … like a frog in a pot of warming water, people have become used to the abuse. It’s hard for people to move away from what they’re used to.

And when people switch over from Windows to Linux they naturally bring that [skeptical] mindset with them. I can't blame them. It's a defensive posture that most people who have suffered from abuse adopt, naturally.

Microsoft has been harming them. And for them to just let go of that is not something we can expect to come easily.”
