VS. Super Mario Bros. (1986)

Home video recorders first hit the market and became popular in the late 1970's. It was a fad of consumer technology products that lasted about thirty years.

In the beginning, there were two video tape formats - Betamax (Sony) and VHS (introduced by JVC). Sony tried to 'control the market' with patents on Betamax technology--JVC released the VHS technology as an "Open" license, leading to massive popularity as other equipment makers jumped on the VHS trend with compatible products.

VCR's were an important disruptive technology because they gave power back to the people to watch what they wanted, when they wanted.

Anyone remember having a box of old video tapes like this? 😁

A little known story involving the obsolete 'Betamax' videotape technology: A young software designer named Bill Gates took inspiration from his good friend Kazuhiko 'Kay' Nishi, a Japanese engineer who worked on Betamax patents with Sony.

Gates, working on computer Operating Systems at the time, learned about software patents, licensing and litigation. Gates designed Microsoft Windows to be closed-source and heavy handed with licensing ... consumers would never know what was in the software source code of Windows.

This and other forgotten stories on the historical timeline demonstrate how Microsoft Windows was designed to capture and dominate computer desktops and the home computer markets, worldwide, from day one.

P.S. Today, like every day, is a great day to start GETTING OUT of Windows and stop using other 'big tech' software and products on your computers, for your own good!

Saw this picture on another network today. Dogs are so great. Sometimes makes me wonder if us humans deserve them. Well, I guess we do, because our creator put them here for us. Truly amazing.
