RH 5.0 was my start, because I was too poor in college, and my AST 386sx couldn't play an mp3 and Minesweeper at the same time. But in linux, i was able to keep that computer usable through graduation.

Terminal is amazing if you're willing to put a little time into learning how to use it

My first experience with Linux was Knoppix Live CD. Then I tried Ubuntu and used FreeBSD(Unix) as my main for a long time

I couldn't post a link, but I have successfully de-googled my OnePlus 8 Pro (equivalent to the 2019 Galaxy flagship phone) using instructions from the XDA developers forums. Lineage OS is a free, open-source version of Android that does not have any Google code in it unless you specifically add it. It requires a moderate level of technical expertise, but it is attainable by most people with a few hours of work.

Thought I’d share my install on older MacBook Pro. Ubuntu would not install without errors. Tried several times. However Mint installed swimmingly. No wireless network. Looking into that now. Anyone with solutions I’d love to hear it. I’m 71 BTW — don’t EVER let the machine win…..

Hi does anyone know any good sources where I can learn Linux, I've heard of it for many years now...and feel it's time understand how it works.

I am so thrilled to have found you and this group! My next project is migrating away from having used apple devices 12 years to a Linux based system. Very tough. Photos music and data and Audible books need special attention. I am thinking of buying a 76 and unplugging my MacBook so I can use it as a very spendy hard drive.

This chat room is the most encouraging thing I have encountered in the last couple of years. So many here “get it”. I have been praying for this for years. The Lord Jesus is moving, it’s time we seek His will more than ever.

My son has a system 76 computer and it is amazing. He is running pop OS and it's been very good for him. He just entered his second year of college using this computer and there are no issues with any of the university requirements for online or other classes. It is not required that you run Pop OS system76 computers.
