You can, of course, write down the KB number and look it up on the Microsoft Website (probably under support). If they aren't showing the info there, THEN we can be sure MS has very nefarious plans under way.
Still, best reason to get rid of the 'doze and replace it with Linux. Will be doing that to the church laptop on Friday.

Tech in the Legislature there is a bill in Congress, H.R. 3816, The American Innovation and Choice Online Act ("AICOA") that claims to push back on anticompetitive practices by 'big tech'.
"would β¦ [prevent] dominant platforms from abusing their gatekeeper power by favoring their own products or services, disadvantaging rivals, or discriminating among businesses that use their platforms in a manner that would materially harm competition on the platform..."
We are unsure if it's good or not, because we don't trust anything coming out of D.C. this year. Interested to hear your thoughts.

πππThis is supposedly a "bipartisan bill" meant to reign in big tech. We will believe it when we see it.

Yesterday was, according to the fake news media, "Antitrust day," when everyone was supposed to talk about anticompetitive practices by 'big tech'. Some websites and presentations in D.C. took place.
They even made a website: https://www.antitrustday.org/
Sounds great on the surface, but considering the MSM promotions, some of the sponsors, and "bi-partisan" labeling of the discussions, the admins of the Jeff.pro channel don't buy it.
We wonder what the real purpose of "antitrust day" was. If you have any ideas, let us know.

βWe continue to grow every single day even though weβre just barely in the testing phase. We continue to prove out the process, focus on our quality and reliability as we bring new users onβ¦
Weβre moving faster and faster towards being able to bring everybody on the platform and then also weβre gonna have the web application open soon. In addition to that, I think weβre making some progress possibly on the Google Play store. Weβll see. There could be new news with that soon.β

We are not fans of Google. However, we think it's interesting that these are some of the default searches there if "how to downgrade from" is typed in the search engine. (We recommend Brave Search over 'G')
What does this mean? That many people are concerned with the privacy and other abuses surfacing in Windows 11, and want to revert back to Windows 10.
There's a better way. Learn a little each day on the Jeff.pro channel about moving from the tyranny of 'big tech' Operating Systems like Windows, to Free and Open Source Linux, a complete replacement. Linux is the future!

In a move revealing shocking incompetence to many computer experts -- only this week, Microsoft appears to have finally understood the value and importance of HTTPS. "For reasons best known to the company, anyone looking to download updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog have had to do so via HTTP links -- but no longer.
It's just another example of how Microsoft manages to sustain the myth that Windows is "the best" or "the most advanced" Operating System when in fact it is far from it.
Yes, you read that correctly. Only this month, in April of 2022, Microsoft finally changed Windows to start using secure HTTPS for system updates and downloads. π€―

Microsoft Update Catalog now works with HTTPS, making it more secure
It's now a bit easier to get Windows Updates directly from Microsoft, and the downloads are more secure as well. What you need to know Download links from the Microsoft Update Catalog now use HTTPS rather than HTTP. The Microsoft Update Catalog allows peopleβ¦

πππ The "most secure and trusted" Microsoft Windows Operating System (including Windows 11), used by governments, schools, end-users worldwide, for the past thirty-seven years, only started using HTTPS for updates, this month!
until now, all Windows update data was transmitted over insecure, unencrypted HTTP.
It's an embarassing, "mind-blowing" display of incompetence at Microsoft.

LEARN ABOUT CYBER SECURITY
Fact: Over 90% of #cyberattacks begin with a spear-phishing email.
So what is "spear-phishing?"
"A typical spear phishing attack includes an email and attachment. The email includes information specific to the target, including the target's name or title at a company. This social engineering tactic boosts the chances that the victim will carry out all the actions necessary for infection, including opening the email and the included attachment."
How to defend against them?
1. Refrain from clicking on links or downloading attachments in emails, especially from unknown sources.
2. Be wary of unsolicited mail and unexpected emails, especially those that call for urgency.
3. Always verify with the person involved through a different means of communication, such as phone calls or face-to-face conversation.

HP All-in-one still has Windows 10 but can switch back and forth to Zorin via USB Stick. Love it. Gives me time to clean up Windows and make a permanent switch. Trust Zorin and what I build into it on the USB Stick can eventually be copied to the SSD. Then it's bye bye Win.
