When I was installing distros on an older iMac the wireless keyboard and mouse gave me a lot of grief. So I bought a used mac wired keyboard and mouse, and everything was so much easier after that. Sometimes the wireless worked and sometimes it didn't. I found it easier to learn Linux when you don't have something frustrating like connection issues.

With Social Media talking about movie stars today, the admins of the Jeff.pro channel decided we would also post a picture of a movie star, while reminding everyone:
Today is a good day to think about taking back control of your Digital Life from the spying and abuses of 'big tech.'

Telegram has proven to be a useful resource for Patriots. We at Jeff.pro are excited to see other new platforms emerging. We assume what those platforms do to earn trust will sort out which are the most popular, over time.
We remind Patriots that none of the new 'Alternate platforms' will have true Digital sovereignty, however, while they rely on the Apple and Google mobile app stores for distribution.
That 'big tech' dominance and control of Operatig Systems is what we aim to solve -- over time -- by, among other things, educating Patriots about O.S. alternatives and truly independent ways to work with our technology. This is the theme of our Jeff.pro channel -- alternatives to 'big tech' Operating Systems.
When the day comes that 'big tech' starts cracking down with even more censorship, control and surveillance than they already are, you will be thankful for the knowledge you have gained by following our channel. You will be ahead of the curve, because you will not be like most people, 'stuck' with a computer that relies on the Bill Gates-designed Microsoft Windows to function...you will have already have achieved Digital Freedom.

I started on Windoze in the 80s. I really enjoyed computing.
All the endless hoops I've had to jump through over the years in order to make something work right for me, pretty much killed any joy I ever got from it.
Until I found Linux when my 'free windows 10 upgrade' failed on my relic machine. That had to be around 2014 or so I guess.
Linux mint 17.3 I think it was. Still running the 10 year old relic with Mint 20.2 but getting USB hardware failure messages on it now.
So today off to buy a new off the shelf best buy machine.
Bring it home and get rid of the Windoze and put whatever iteration of Linux Mint it is now on it and should be set for the next 10 years. π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£

Hello All, I am still woefully behind. But new tech is going to force me to switch to Linux now! Because now Pure Talk is telling me I have to get a new phone (I have a Samsung Note 8 that is working fine). The reason is a 5G push that makes my phone obsolete. Since last Wednesday I can only use apps when I am home and use wifi. I also cannot receive or send multi-media text. I told the tech on the phone that I should go back to a rotary dial phone and a party line. I didn't need to upgrade equipment and I knew everyone listening in! He was left speechless! π Has anyone had this problem with Pure talk recently?

Newby.....iMac 2019, and IMac 2009ish wonβt boot to find info but it does turn on and spin...and an airport, was hoping to practice on the older then progress to the 2019, but that may not be possible. Still trying to choose distribution, been fully Mac for 30. QB, word, email and research are my main uses. Room to play for the future. Mint/ cinnamon is coming up more and more..but really not sure what would be a less difficult learning curve...

My 12+ year old multifunction printer/scanner/fax stopped scanning a couple years ago when I was on windows. Last night installed xsane backend drivers on my Linux machine now I have more scanning options and settings than I had when it was new. Loving Linux.

Did not want to give up my iPhone on the 3G network but was forced to. Turning everything possible off on this new phone. HP first shut down my printer and then my laptop. Need suggestions for a new laptop on which I am installing Linuxβ¦because Iβve had it with all this nonsense!

Heads up there is a story in a lot of the media today about how Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google, was paying for two employees in the Resident's White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and that many other former Google execs have been working there, for the past year.
What does it mean? More direct links between Google, and the Democrats ... specifically, the Resident's White House.
Is anyone surprised? We didn't think so.

For a long time, the political left has controlled America's technology. It doesn't have to be that way.
It is time for "We the people" of America to start building and managing our technology, not just the radical left with their connections to China and the surveillance state!
