On this Telegram channel, we teach you how to eliminate 'big tech' organizations from your life, like Microsoft (Windows), Apple, Google, by learning to use Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and the Linux Operating System.
We go beyond the concept of 'alternate platforms', to where you can truly take back control -- the operating system level -- and show you how to get complete control over your technology, once and for all. Linux is the future, it is Digital Freedom!

I had to get a cheap HP laptop for a class which is finishing up in mid-March. It has 4gb RAM with 64-bit OS, AMD Athlon Silver 3050U, Windows 11 OS. What would be the best Linux distro for basic usage?

Just trying to educate you enough so you can begin your journey. You have to learn what you need to do, just as with anything else in life. Many of us had never used Linux either before we began our journey. But we saw the advantage of doing so and put in some time educating ourselves. The JP forum is a great place to learn more. Also, YouTube has numerous videos showing how to make a bootable USB and install a Linux distro. Watch some for the distros you might want to consider. Seeing someone else do it and actually seeing the distro working can make it simpler for you when you actually get to the point of doing that.

It's Official ... the decline of Facebook/Meta has begun! Facebook's stock is in freefall, and its most significant financial backer, Peter Thiel, announced this afternoon he is resigning from the Board.
We told you the demise of Facebook was near, on this Telegram channel, in September 2021.
At the time JP declared Facebook would soon decline, he said, "it seemed difficult for even him to believe," but he was going to say it anyway, because it's what he "felt in his heart."

Today I made the jump to Patriot Mobile. Feels good to dump AT&T. I'm in a bit of a different situation. Live in a 40' fifth wheel, and need a high volume data for web.
Will be Interesting to see how this goes.

What happens when you "Boot" a computer?
1. POST (Power On Self Test) - checks all hardware.
2. Find a Boot Device - your computer needs to load its Operating System ("OS") software from some source.
3. Load the OS - for most computers, this will be Windows, MacOS, or Linux.
4. Transfer control - from the boot processes to the OS. Your computer is now operational, with the OS residing in memory for the remainder of your computing session.

Linux experience so far: Tried many distros, I don't game however want to get husband off windows so test distros on gaming. So far the easiest to install and use has been Garuda Dragonized. It just seems to work. Don't know why Pop OS gets pushed.. hated it. Now I am looking for small business accounting package leaning toward Gnucash. Will there be any problem using this on KDE desktop? Any comments/ suggestions? So far none of the distros have any issues with nvida drivers. I just have problems with realtek wifi drivers. Couldn't use a wired internet connection so just ordered wifi dongles with Linux compatible chipset off Ebay for install and testing of distros. Was a cheap easy way to solve problem til I learn how to install realtek drivers. I use several browsers. Brave searches return only one page of results for some reason. Garuda come with a tweaked version of firefox called firedragon. Since I was distro hopping I setup a Vivaldi account. Yes I have 10 usb with various distros :)

Until people can overcome their addiction to fake news, Facebook and Twitter these companies will continue to defy our right to free speech. You just have to ask what will it take? Empty shelves, runaway inflation, freezing in your own homes, deaths and warnings of the vaccine have not been enough. I heard Tuckers show where he warned newscasters that their supply of Botox is about to dry up. Is Their IQ and morality so low that they will only do what is right if it effects their vanity? And these people are who they trust to tell the truth?

In 2019, GNU/Linux co-founder Richard Stallman was invited to speak at Microsoft headquarters.
Instead of going along with the suggested agenda, "rms" famously went off-script, instead lecturing Microsoft employees for two hours about the dangers to society from secret "backdoors" in peripherals and Windows, and the importance of Software Freedom.
Stallman concluded with the suggestion that Microsoft should release the Windows source code to the public under the GNU General Public license that Richard himself first authored in 1989.

If you are in our Linux for Beginners ongoing class, this weekend we will be doing a workshop on the new buzzword sweeping the technology media: Web3.
Web3 is more than "just crypto," in fact we at the Jeff.pro channel at not big in to crypto. Many new technologies are emerging as part of Web3's promises to "decentralize" computing. Some of this may be helpful, like Web3 websites that can't be censored, some of the new technologies could be harmful, depending on how you see things.
We think it will be useful for Patriots to have an unbiased introduction to Web3, so we can at least hold our own in conversations about Blockchain technologies and and so everyone can intelligently debate the new Web3 as time goes on. So, we will provide an overview about it as a starting point, this Saturday @ 5:00pm EST in our Linux for Beginners Weekend Workshop.
