I have a developer friend who uses Ubuntu, so that is the distro I will be migrating to. It is also the most commonly used, as far as I understand.

Ubuntu on my Desktop, Ubuntu runs my online web servers, Ubuntu runs my Nextcloud online server. It is almost like owning your own life...

Thank you for this Jeffery. I have Linux Mint Tina on a spare laptop and have been playing with it from time to time although I still only comprehend basic functions of it.
Is Ubuntu easier to learn and master? I haven't tried it yet but I may. Thanks again for helping us dummies with this.

I use linux mint, desinter browser, firewall on, proton vpn, proton mail.

Agreed- I am pressing my reps on vaccine passports and extending our gov emergency power. Trying to get other people motivated to do the same and filing lots of foi request.

The vaccine passport is a window to link to a digital id and digital currency. To me that is one of the most pressing issues.

The Australian federal government is planning to de-anonymize the internet to introduce a social credit system to combat "online abuse".

Police will have access to individuals' social media accounts, which will be linked to people's passports and drivers licenses.

People in South Australia will forced to download an app that combines facial recognition and geolocation. They will be texted at random times and have 15 minutes to respond with a picture of their face at the location where they are supposed to be. If they fail to respond the police will be sent to follow up in person.

Australia has gone full Orwellian.
