The Intel 8086 microprocessor, first introduced in 1978, has been called "a microprocessor that changed the world." It was the computing engine in the original IBM-PC computer (1981).

The 8086, designed by American software engineer Steven P. Morse, was the beginning of the "x86" processor line. Even today, most desktop computers, laptops, and game consoles are based on the x86 architecture (chip design) first introduced in the 8086.

Hey JP, I don't know where to ask this as it's not related to the post, but I'll ask anyway...
I'm currently building a web server running ubuntu 20.04. The question is, do you have a recommendation for the web server? I've been using Apache, but I hear so much talk about nginx. What are your thoughts on nginx?
Or should I just keep on with using apache?

While making my coffee this morning I was thinking about how JP and the crew on this channel have taught me 2 very important concepts beyond just 'drop Windows and install Linux:'

1. We have been in the habit of 'taking things in' without knowing what's in them. We have been allowing Windows/Mac updates for years without knowing what's in them. Taking that further, we eat food and we don't know where it's from, or what's really in it. We listen to the news and believe it without checking the sources. We read without knowing the background of the author. This is a bad habit to keep in mind in many areas of our lives.

2. Nothing is free, and if a service allows your use for no charge, you are paying for it with your personal information. Every "free" social media app tracks you, watches what you do and what you watch, listens to you, then sells that information for other purposes. We use it for "free" but then THEY MAKE MONEY OFF OF YOU. (I would say a unique exception is FOSS because they have a goal and an agenda fueled by volunteers and people who support them financially. Hope I understand that correctly.) So be wary of free social media services because YOU become the commodity.

Yes, I really did think about all this while making my coffee! 😂🤪

Admins Note We see the Telegram app as Free, at least it has been for a few years. Telegram will soon include advertising on channels which we do not see as a deal-breaker, if they don't track users--they've said they will not be tracking. We applaud them for this approach! And, Pavel Durov, Telegram's author, promises they will keep the code Open Source so we know what's in it. A good example for other App developers.
