FOR CLARIFICATION Linux for Beginners and Introduction to programming with Python are two different courses. LFB is not a programming class, it is oriented towards desktop web surfers who are looking to get Big Tech (Microsoft Windows/Bill Gates) out of their computers. The programming class is brand new, it is a different class, we will be offering it for the first time (in a separate group) this month. We are putting it together in response to many inquiries we had last year about training and re-training for new, vax free career paths in tech.

Here is a recording of tonight's Live Audio Stream for those who could not be there live. In tonight's audio stream, JP discussed: How can learning to use Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and the Linux Operating System improve your Digital Life in the new year?

The Linux for Beginners class offered by this channel has helped lead many Patriots to discover the complete independence from big tech available with the Free and Open Source Linux Computer Operating System.

Finally, after 3+ months of reading this alien language, I mustered the courage to make a bootable usb (using Balena Etcher), and today (with the patient help of Michael on forums.jeff.pro) wiped the hard drive on a Lenovo IdeaPad and installed Ubuntu!

I am so grateful to Jeffrey Peterson for starting this movement away from big tech! Thanks also to CodeMonkeyZ for letting many of us know about this Channel, all the great Admins here, and all who share.
It is changing our lives! If this old lady can do it, anybody can.

Happy New Year to all! ❀️

If all I have at this point is one laptop with windows, is it best I just wait till I can get another to change just one of them to Linux?

I'm not terribly tech savvy but realize this would be good for us as individuals and would be good for the world. I am just unsure if I should wait to get another laptop before learning to make this switch.

Fooling around with Ventoy. There are 11 distros on the sd card in that little usb adapter. I’ve booted to Fedora desktop, Mint (have to use usb to Ethernet adapter there), Linux Lite, and Zorin Lite and MX1. MX1 hung going into gui. Fedora ran like a dream. Still playing with this.

I can relate. As much as things go over my head at the time, I’ve realized some of these terms are sinking in somehow. I plan to keep showing up with an open mind. There is so much positive intent it’s bound to rub off 😊.

If you’re running for office & haven’t mentioned social media censorship β€” especially after a Congresswoman was suspended from Twitter β€” how can we expect you to be bold enough to lead in a Republican majority if you aren’t even bold enough to take a stance now?

We’re watching.

I went with Ubuntu on my old machine and it works well. The advantage to that is it is so easy to learn and has lots of resources for beginners. Linux for dummies uses Ubuntu. Its good for beginners like us.

I have been running POP-OS of a week now. I continue to search and I think I will ultimately switch to Manjaro KDE. I have 2 ssd drives one is my original Windows install and I have just deactivated the drive for now. There are 2 Windows programs that I want to be able to run One is a biblical research program based on Folio Views software another is E-Sword. I am trying to decide the best way to set these up. one would be to use Virtualbox and setup the virtual machine to use the existing installation of windows or using something like play on linux or crossover. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions with these options and/or with e-sword?
