Exact same here! I tried 4 or 5 different versions of Linux. Lots of frustration but then I realized what a learning experience it was. I have Ubuntu 20.04 on an old HP 2000 laptop with KDE Plasma and it runs like a champ. This machine will be next, then my phone. A whole new world of safety and security opened up thanks to this channel.

Where do I start? I have an old laptop that I would like to try to learn how all this works.

I totally agree, I thought about doing it and thought "what is the worst that can happen? " then I took a deep breath and jumped in...I am so glad I did, using a computer is new and exciting again. I now look forward to using my computer more than using my toaster!

I converted months ago to Linux Mint and no looking back, I was so pleased with the results I just started helping! Honestly necessity is the mother of invention, I was playing around with formatting an external drive, and being tired mistook and reformatted my internal Windows drive. I just shrugged my shoulders and dug in. It has become my happy place! :)

Wanna hear something funny? You Tube/Google asked me what my trust level was. I said not at all.

My kid is currently asking me what version of Linux I want. I told him everyone is using the one with the little penguin. To which he laughs and calls me a boomer😆 So glad he knows what he's doing because I don't.

I put Ubuntu on my moms computer.
I ended up putting KDE on it and she likes it better, so you might like Kubuntu. It has a lot of similarities with the windows interface

FB used to ask me if I "trust FB" , on several occasions. At that time I had no clue what they were up to. That was around 2017 to 2018. People are waking up en mass!!!

Years ago I tested 5 different distros and found Ubuntu was most compatible with all the hardware in my laptop. This year I tested Ubuntu for my desktop and found running from USB worked but after the install the video driver failed. Next I installed mint (3 different flavors), then heard Debian had the ability to switch desktop environments with a simple logout, and login to different one. Got Gnome tweaked up to my liking and was feeling comfortable, then on a whim switched to xfce. WOW! I like that so much better! Reading about lightweight distros and finding xfce repeatedly mentioned reinforces my conclusion that this is a good match for my old hardware. Goodbye Google… not going to miss you.

You have to be willing to do things others aren’t willing to do in order to reach the level of success you talk about wanting in your life. And stay quiet and humble about it.

Ok, that last visual was a bit harsh. But it's true! They will take everything they can from you, in the name of "comfort," "convenience," and "your safety." On any of their preferred narratives that help their "agenda," they would much prefer that you DON'T ASK QUESTIONS and COMPLY.

They will take, and take, and take more, until there is nothing left to take. Unless WE the people make changes.

This guy would agree with them. Charles Duell, Commissioner of the U.S. patent office, famously said in 1899, "Everything that can be invented, has already been invented."

Technical innovation is a ebb and a flow. Historically, it has surges forward in boom-and-bust cycles, a back and forth between cynics saying "there's nothing left to invent," and innovators who believe there's always a better way waiting to be discovered.

Though well versed in Linux, I appreciate this channel so much! Now I know I'm not alone. I went to Linux in 1997 as my sole OS when I began what BG is all about. Doesn't surprise in the least he is a major perpetrator pushing death shots & abortion.
