I am just starting to investigate using Joplin to replace OneNote and Evernote. I am concerned with my information on their clouds. It looks like Joplin can use Dropbox or a private server to sync to all of my devices. I plan on trying to setup a server inside my network and use a VPN to connect to my network to Sync my devices remotely. It is also fully encrypted. The concept seems to work, but I have not tested yet.

I can not believe what I just posted. I am going to use Joplin and sync over my VPS. I had no idea what Linux, nextcloud a VPN or VPS was before Jeff started this group. Until the pandemic I was just a therapy dog volunteer and mom who lost sleep over big tech spying on us.

I personally use Linux Manjaro, my family uses Mint. Most on the channel that are new choose Mint.

Linux Mint does have an option to use the xfce desktop. I'm using it on a 10 year old Sony Vaio laptop, replaced the hard drive with an SSD and it works great.
