The entire Linux community is up to date on current technology, so yes. You can use a newer laptop. Linux also has what we call "generic" drivers to push most hardware. There are drivers centered around specific hardwares, and there are also proprietary drivers for things like Nvidia. Linux is usually out in front of technology. You would be amazed at how much current tech revolves around the Linux OS.

I just received my pixel 3a - degoogled, calyxOS - and it accepted the verizon sim card no problem. I am getting rid of my direct account with verizon though - just saying...MVNO maybe...

Also to note, if you are visually impaired like myself, there are applications out there such as Viacam that makes maneuvering in Linux easier. There are other applications and distros that also help folks with disabilities.

DaVinci Resolve may not be open source, but looks like a good professional Premier alternative, especially if you get one of their expensive keyboard/panels.

Either I'm getting old, or I'm spoiled by plug n play, but I can't help wishing for a phone and a computer that are already de-googled and de-appled. I see T-mobile mentioned a lot here, are they less "liberal-left" than AT&T? Where did you receive your phone from, ebay?

I used my Raspberry Pi to be a Network Attached Storage (NAS) that I have Linux, Windows, and Android devices attached. Wife hasn't let me do her Mac yet.

I am finally able to listen to this voice chat and can’t tell you how excited I am about this. The part where you say even someone not technical can help makes me so happy. I have always been curious but time has prevented me from exploring.. Hoping that I can help with this project in some way.

I installed Linux Mint on my laptop yesterday and deleted Windows permanently! Mint runs seemlessly!
