Thank you so much! I'm not ready to take the leap yet, I'm still mentally preparing myself. Thankfully, there's so much info and advice on this channel.

You have reassured my steps. I have been following channel for a while. I decided to join a financial platform today, it requires desktop. So....today is the day my freedom journey starts. So right now I am checking for stuff I might need. Most of my stuff is thru Google still. So after I get this task done. I'll remedy the Google stuff. I want a fresh clean slate.
My desktop is 64bit.

Just loaded Linuxmint from a usb that I purchased on Amazon on my old Mac.
I am new on this and semi-retired.
Seems exciting. I battle with some basics like cannot connect to wifi!?
Any quick suggestions?

Many of the FOSS alternatives to big tech are genuinely better in my honest opinion.

I am studying different money management software for Linux to replace Quicken for my rental properties. Looking at and downloading the trial Money Dance on my windows to see if it will work for this. It looks nice but I can’t figure out how to add tags for my rentals. Is anyone else using something on Linux for there rental properties?

So....I went into Windows 10 today for the first time since installing Ubuntu on Saturday (I needed to get something in Windows). It noticed I'd plugged in a new Logitech mouse, and started installing Setpoint. HUNDREDS of megs of program files...for a mouse. WHY? After 10 min, it was only 10% done....for a mouse.
Windows was chugging along as per usual, and I noticed the fan spooling up and my keyboard getting warm (I'm on a laptop). It didn't even dawn on me until just now, how quiet, cool and silky smooth Linux runs in comparison. Also, Windows just seemed like a cobbled together mashup of stuff.
I'm done with it.

Yes... definitely many, many more. The good open source software usually goes cross platform, and because of that it's wiping out many apps. For example, VLC has taken over, taking out all the video, DVD, Bluray players on all three of the OS's, and has become the #1 video payer.

News from the rumor mill it appears the previously-announced speculation about Facebook changing its name is true, an announcement about the name change is imminent.

Just listened to Jeff Peterson’s talk from last night. Thank you so much, Jeff, for giving me hope, encouragement, and new excitement in this seemingly dark world. It is like finally having a light shining a new path toward liberty.
I am a grandma who started using computers when I had to put the phone in a suction up and dial up an IBM 360 located in Philadelphia, as I recall (I lived in California), so I’m probably the most ancient one here....
BUT...this new project has made me feel 25 again! God bless you all who are helping us regain freedom!

We are living through an era that that history is going to remember well. The next generation is going to look upon this era like other major events in history such as the Great World Wars and Civil War, etc. The sad thing is so many right now are looking at those of us fighting hard for our freedoms as obsessive and extreme. We are fighting for the freedoms of those who mock us now but trust they will be grateful to us when the coming years revel the truth of the evil that is taking place today.
