A lot of our subscribers have been finding great success getting older laptops from Ebay for something like $200 and installing Free and Open Source Linux on them. This is a great, cheap way to get your digital world free from 'big tech' and is not affected by the international supply chain problems! We like some of the older (2009 - 2013) Dells , but because Linux works great on older laptops, when you learn how to use Linux, you have many options!
Join one of our original Jeff.pro channel chat admins, Well Welker, as he answers your Linux questions in a special Live Audio Stream tonight @ 8:00pm EST, here on this Telegram channel!

Learn how to end online spying, tyranny and abuses by 'big tech' companies like Facebook, Google & Microsoft. Take back your digital freedom by learning to use the Linux Operating System.

Join hundreds of Patriots who are standing up to 'big tech' abuses by learning Linux. Enrollment for Group 3 of our Linux for Beginners course is now open, about 40 virtual seats left. Group 3 will be sold out later this evening. -> learn.jeff.pro

Here is a recording of tonight's Live Audio Stream for Monday, October 25, 2021, for those who could not be there. (Telegram titled the file name as October 26, but it is actually for October 25.) On tonight's audio stream, JP started by describing this Jeff.pro Telegram channel and what it is all about. Then, one of our original Jeff.pro channel chat admins, Well Welker, answered Linux questions for several of our chat room members and finished by talking about the chicken farm hs runs in Idaho!

Learn how to end online spying, tyranny and abuses by 'big tech' companies like Facebook, Google & Microsoft. Take back your digital freedom by learning to use the Linux Operating System. Our group is one of a kind, it's the biggest new Technology group on Telegram and it will help you learn things about your laptop, your computer and your mobile devices that you may have never imagined, and that really will improve your quality of life!

God Bless you, Patriots! 🇺🇸

I listened to the entire conversation this evening, it's fun to hear everyone who's excited to switch to Linux. I hope more questions come as the community grows!

I've dabbled with it these last 5 years, and am pretty comfortable installing Linux on many different devices, (except Arch Linux).

Listening to Susan/Susie having problems with installing Linux on her Lenovo brought to mind an issue I had when I tried downloading Mint on my friends Lenovo.

Depending on what iso image creator she used, could cause the boot issues. I found I had problems using Rufus for some versions of Debian and Ubuntu distros with Lenovo hardware. I've had the most luck using balenta etcher creating bootable iso's. Yumi is my second go too, but I have had some success with Rufus. Mainly when creating bootable Fedora iso's.

Hope this helps someone in the community! Keep it growing, FOSS is the future!

Two months ago I succeeded in installing Linux mint cinnamon on my 2008 MacBook. That creates a monster. Now I’m taking free programming classes on Edx, starting up classes in a month for Comptia Security certification and it’s all JP’s fault!!!

I have successfully installed Mint on my 2010 iMac. The Mac Bluetooth keyboard is not work so I used a USB Windows keyboard. To enter the boot selector originally, I held down the Mac Option button. Now that Mint is installed and the Windows keyboard is in use, any ideas which key will enter the boot selector on startup? I’d like to test out other distros live.

What are peoples opinions of Freedom Phone

No dumb questions here. You can check out System 76, Star Labs for computers, and Rob Braxman for phones. Dell also offers a laptop with a Linux distro on it I believe (maybe Ubuntu). Sorry for not providing links, I'm on a roof at the moment, but will gladly find it and link it here in a bit. 👍

I would love to change, but I have so many questions. Will it work , for example, with Office…..spreadsheets, Word, etc. Or is it proprietary?

Same. I was excited to buy the freedom phone but once I looked into it more, didn't like what I saw. The silver lining is that it turned me on to other options. I'm happy with the de-googled phone I got on eBay.

Great place to look is Back Market. They sell refurbed electronics and are very reasonably priced. Also, their customer service is second to none. I had a great experience with them about a week ago. What I purchased from them was rated "good" condition but it looks and operates like a brand new phone.
