They are great for media servers from room to room as well. I use pi4s now, very robust for such a tiny package. I run my own personal family email server, irc, web, ftp, VPN router... Their uses are endless.

I installed mint with no issues on my laptop and everything works well. Are other distros harder to configure for different systems?

I have it on a 2015 Macbook Air right now. Works wonderfully with Linux Mint and it comes out of the box with the driver for the Broadcom wireless ready to go.

to newbies (from a newbie)... listen (re-listen) to Jeff's 'daily' audio chats... take notes... scan thru the JP's technology chat channel... do some internet searches... do some YouTube searches... read a book... don't expect "THEM" to do it for you -- that was the mindset that got us into the technology mess we are in today... WE CAN DO THIS if we put in the time and effort! And we have ROADBLOCK HELPERS in this amazing community! We will remain STUCK for a FAR SHORTER TIME than some of these mentors!! Don't give up! You are not too late!!

Here is a audio recording of tonight's Telegram voice call for those who were not able to be there live. On tonight's call, we talked about what is being revealed about closed operating systems, and how to liberate yourself from "big tech" abuses by switching your technology to Linux. We discussed our new Linux for Beginners courses, how our Learning Management System (LMS) will work, and what to expect. We reflected on our great Technology chat room, it's one of a kind, already the biggest and best on Telegram after a few short weeks.
Best wishes to you, Patriots, as you set out to discover the very exciting world of Free and Open Source technology. If you, like many other Americans who love their country, are ready to leave the spying and abuses of the "big tech" Windows/MacOS/Android operating systems, Linux is Digital Freedom!

I love listening to you. Just love it. I've heard many of your stories multiple times but it just pounds the data into my head the more I hear it. I'm so excited/proud to be in the first class. Yay. And I've completed both courses and actually listened to them both more than once. I've already downloaded Ubuntu on my laptop but i haven't done much since. Don't quite know where to go from here. Lol. I'll looking forward to Travelling on this journey. My favorite quote of yours is " Nancy Pelosi is a drunk". Lol. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you

I finally decided to update my Ubuntu to version 20.04. I postponed this decision a lot because I loved the abandoned Unity interface. But with some tweaks and extensions I managed to make Gnome look similar, maybe even prettier with the great Orchis theme. After about 10 years, welcome back, Gnome!

I love what you are doing Jeff. A few months I ago somehow managed to down load Linux alongside Windows on my hp and have been using it ever since. Never going back. Then a couple of nights ago I completely replaced Windows on our older Asus laptop with Linux. It took me 4 or 5 hours, because I had to fiddle with the boot order (even though I had NO idea of what I was doing - just watched Youtube videos). I made lots of newbie mistakes of course, but it finally worked and I loaded all the updates and stuff. That little old laptop runs so very well now! Now I just have to figure out how to remove Windows completely from my hp. I'm using Gparted. But I'm so clueless that I can't really figure out which partition I should delete for sure. So I'll wait until I know more. Taking your class ;) Thank you so much for what you are doing!

Good morning family. I just wanted to encourage those of you who have hit a roadblock on this journey we are on. NEVER QUIT!! I hit several with trying to find drivers for enabling WiFi on Ubuntu and last night I spent three hours until I was finally able to get my HP printer to be recognized wirelessly on Linux Mint.
Please don't throw in the towel when things get frustrating because the reward of solving these little issues that arise along the way is far greater than you can imagine. Each time you figure it out, your self confidence goes up a little more.
Jeff was right, he is telling you the truth. Just like we are uncomfortable with what's going on in our world today, you might be uncomfortable with figuring out this new switch to a different OS. Sometimes it takes us being uncomfortable for CHANGE to occur. Take back your freedom one step at a time and NEVER QUIT.
God Bless

Where do you find wireless print drivers for Linux?
Friends, a simple question. On your computer or mobile device, what is the one feature (email, web browser, social network etc.) you can't do without?

De-google your (Android) phone by installing Lineage OS. Since Android is based on the Linux kernel, its original form is free, open-source software. Lineage OS is based on the Android Open-Source Project (AOSP), which takes all the innovations of Android without any of the Google. If you are tech-savvy, you can build Lineage OS from the source code. If you are not tech-savvy, you can follow the instructions on their wiki to install Lineage OS on just about any Android device. Here's a link to their wiki and the device list. Click on your manufacturer to get a list of all the phones that are supported.

I've been diving into books and videos all day everyday at work. I really want to understand this technology. I use to run from the word or though of UNIX and Linux but after gaining a little knowledge.....I can't stop now. It's an obsession. Thanks for all the help.
