Better Hack was sooo awesome !! didn't post about it when we got in. I was saving it for now 😁. The contestants were something else doing all that work in just 24 hrs. You really deserve it guys. Congrats for all the winners. As for me It was my first hackathon let alone my first experience with Better auth. Our title was "Telegram mini app auth plugin for Better Auth".

We started working at night and pulled almost an all nighter 😁 just to figure out how plugins work and how we can write one. Honestly speaking it was really great figuring out everything by ourselves (ofc we used some AI for the demo app).

Anyways happy to meet you all, frectonz, dagmawibabi, doughnut and kinfish ( he sat with us for a long time to fix our error thanks 🙏)

And we got 4th um rly glad

If you are using Linux you should give [Vicinae] a spin, you will love it. Its a powerhouse and opens a lot of doors for you to extend it.

I myself wrote 5 Vicinae Extensions that I use daily. Really great app and the community is growing 2.9K stars on github and around 170 members on discord. The dev is also kind and open to accept improvements and issues.

What if I can open my telegram chats through Vicinae. But it has to be easy to use and no auth no anything.

discovery 1: you can open their chat if you have the username of a person using

'xdg-open tg://resolve?domain=aion_ue'

so basically i can use a vicinae command with arguments to open any chat if i have the user's username. (thats what i did in the viedeo using the 'ot' shortcut)

problem 1: do i have to remember the username to open the chat after the first time. that won't be easy at all. many chat and many username to remember.

solution for problem 1: when the user first opens a chat using username with the xdg-open command i can save the username in the viciane local-storage(yeah it has one, its like a small browser except its written in cpp from scratch and it has react renderer too 👀). so now right after we hit enter we save the username in our local storage then launch telegram with the user's chat opened.......

so maybe we can have a list view that lists all our contacts that we at least once accessed through the command with argument ('ot') but the list should be easily searchable and pretty. so what can we do???

discovery 2: if you open https://t.me/username it opens a webpage with the users display name and profile image (if they enable it to be shown to everyone)

problem 2: how can i get this data inside my vicinae extension

solution for problem 2: i can use curl then get the html then parse the html to extract the display name and the profile image. (i called curl using execAsync from node util promisify)

then we get what is shown in the screen recording.

so for your chats that you open frequentely you can open them using viciane once through username then i will handle the rest. finally we built a progressively updating telegram contact list that we can launch instantly with features
