Not wanting something is as good as having it.

There is freedom to be found in not truly desiring something. Freedom in understanding the constant effort to bring order. Freedom in understanding entropy, but that doesn't mean putting a conscious effort into not wanting something. To not be fully attached is to be free. To leave it no place in your experience.

The practice isn't to deny the human we are. Billions of years of evolution have tuned us to want nothing but to cling to survival, and that in itself is a disadvantage. Almost every cell in our body, every place you have hair, every blink, every breath all exist to help you cling to life. And it is easy to forget this fact. The practice is to acknowledge the hourglass, to acknowledge the effort it takes to maintain order.

And in that, it is to be free of that persistent longing for something: for friendship, wealth, health.

In that sense, to not want is to have it.

Better Hack was sooo awesome !! didn't post about it when we got in. I was saving it for now 😁. The contestants were something else doing all that work in just 24 hrs. You really deserve it guys. Congrats for all the winners. As for me It was my first hackathon let alone my first experience with Better auth. Our title was "Telegram mini app auth plugin for Better Auth".

We started working at night and pulled almost an all nighter 😁 just to figure out how plugins work and how we can write one. Honestly speaking it was really great figuring out everything by ourselves (ofc we used some AI for the demo app).

Anyways happy to meet you all, frectonz, dagmawibabi, doughnut and kinfish ( he sat with us for a long time to fix our error thanks πŸ™)

And we got 4th um rly glad

If you are using Linux you should give [Vicinae] a spin, you will love it. Its a powerhouse and opens a lot of doors for you to extend it.

I myself wrote 5 Vicinae Extensions that I use daily. Really great app and the community is growing 2.9K stars on github and around 170 members on discord. The dev is also kind and open to accept improvements and issues.

- Manage bluetooth
- Manage Wifi
- Manage your active media
- Clipboard History (Unlimited)
- Global file search (Unbelievably fast)
- Power menu (shutdown, sleep and so on)
- Switch Active Windows
- Emoji Search
- Shortcuts
- Access to all Raycast Extensions (Even though only some of them are currently working the number is increasing everyday)
- Their own Vicinae Store coming soon !!

I just finished watching the vite documentary on cult repo and I really loved it. I just kept imagining what the Better Auth documentary would look like 😁. Coz it will happen for sure. And it would be awesome to be a part of it.

Here are the tools I built and actually use every day:

[nr-fish-completion]
Autocomplete for nr (from antfu’s ni) in Fish shell β€” lets me run scripts effortlessly. Probably my most-used tool ever.

[Noty]
My quick notes app β€” keyboard-focused, autosave on, and zero distractions. (Writing this post on it)

[floww]
Restores my entire dev setup after a reboot β€” one config, and I’m back where I left off.

[gitsnip]
Grab just a folder from any Git repo. Small but mighty.

[Better Hasura History]
Total lifesaver β€” lets me find past API calls I made on Hasura weeks ago.

[EthCal]
Ethiopian calendar app in my Gnome top bar β€” my latest project and I just see it at a glance. and i am adding small features bit by bit.

[cvm]
Cursor version manager that lets me update my Cursor IDE with just a single command, I built it back when cursor doesn't have support for rpm (it only had appimage) and installing appimage with desktop entry, cli command and updating it was a mess. This tool saved me.

What’s your favorite tool you built and use daily?
