“The first lesson of economics is scarcity: There is never enough of anything to satisfy all those who want it. The first lesson of politics is to disregard the first lesson of economics.”

There is a new launcher in town for Linux with raycast store compatibility and it fully works on Gnome. Well it didn't at first and then I came in 😁
[The Gnome Extension I made] exposes clipboard and window management APIs to the C++ backend and now its at 105 downloads on GitHub 🧨

I haven't coded much these days, only solving leetcode problems. Kinda feels void 😁. I will get back to it soon, and hard😅.
Quite a summer!

vicinae - Gnome specific handlers that communicate with the extension through an IPC and some minor improvements
Kenat - type support for better DX

Movies show you everything, but books They let you create it all—faces, voices, feelings, even the wind in the air. You don’t just read the story… you live it!

Forwarded from From Where I Stand
Not wanting something is as good as having it.
There is freedom to be found in not truly desiring something. Freedom in understanding the constant effort to bring order. Freedom in understanding entropy, but that doesn't mean putting a conscious effort into not wanting something. To not be fully attached is to be free. To leave it no place in your experience.
The practice isn't to deny the human we are. Billions of years of evolution have tuned us to want nothing but to cling to survival, and that in itself is a disadvantage. Almost every cell in our body, every place you have hair, every blink, every breath all exist to help you cling to life. And it is easy to forget this fact. The practice is to acknowledge the hourglass, to acknowledge the effort it takes to maintain order.
And in that, it is to be free of that persistent longing for something: for friendship, wealth, health.
In that sense, to not want is to have it.
