Why is it Windows Subsystem for Linux aka WSL and not Linux subsystem for windows. I am confused here.
I am not alone 😁. Here is a good discussion about it. Some responses I like are:

1. It makes sense as "A windows subsystem for Linux". Unfortunately, dropping the "A" makes it ambigious.

2. Microsoft has a tradition with these confusing backwards names. They used to have a product called Windows Services for UNIX [1] which was, you guessed it, UNIX Services for Windows: NFS, Telnet, cron, rsh, etc.

3. I have an English degree and can confidently say the issue is the implicit understood possessive in the correct parsing. As it stands, β€œfor” dominates mentally because the phrase obviously needs a possessive to make sense and β€œfor” denotes possession. If it were β€œWindow’s Subsystem for Linux” or β€œDOS’s Subsystem for Linux”, explicating the proper possession, the parsing trouble would disappear.

The last one was what I was thinking.

Ask yourself, name a thing that is not going as you planned ? If the answer is you, there is some big fking problem. They were going as planned because your were their leader. But If you are deviating from the plan they got no choice, they will follow you.

tl;dr: give up fk up

When was the last time you wrote a normal for/while loop in JS/TS 😁??
Just remind yourself that no matter how hard it might seem there is a solution to everything and that you are capable of figuring it out.

Figuring that out will make you a better engineer in the long run. Which increases the threshold of things you can figure out.

Just finished a feature after a lot of failures πŸ₯±πŸ₯±.

Don't spend too much on planning. Just do what you think and then iterate till you get the best solution. Analysis paralysis will kill you !!

People don't really realise how impressive cameras are. It's insane how we humans were able to use minerals from the earth to literally capture a point in time.

What are some good logical paradoxes?

Answer 🍑

The Rich Guest Paradox

I read it somewhere and I dont remember its exact name so I made this one up. Here goes the paradox:

There is a very poor quaint little town where everyone is in a huge debt with someone but with no money to pay for it.

There is hotel which is hardly seeing any business anymore. They are to soon shut it down.

One day a very wealthy American guest shows up and he wants to spend a night there. However before he confirms he asks for a tour of the hotel.

The receptionist asks for a security deposit which the American can take back in case he doesn’t like the rooms. The guest obliges.

It turns out by matter of luck this is the exact amount that the hotel owed to the chef as salary for three months which they hadn’t been able to pay. They gave the cash to the chef.

The chef saw that this was the exact amount of cash he owed the grocer for months of groceries he hadn’t been able to pay for. He paid the grocer.

The grocer realized it was the exact amount he owed the doctor for treating his wife’s arthritis.

The doctor paid the money to the nurse for two months of service he couldn’t pay for.

The nurse was new to the town so she had been staying in the hotel for a few days before she found a house to rent. She too was poor and couldn’t pay the hotel at that time. The money she received from the doctor was exactly what she owed the hotel so she paid.

Now the hotel had got back the exact amount it had paid the chef. Now the guest has finished his tour of the rooms. Turns out he doesn’t like it. He takes back his security deposit from the hotel and leaves, never to be seen again.

So everyone's debt has been paid, but nothing is different from before.

No one has earned anything. But now everyone is happy.

Did the debt really exist at all?

I really really want to thank ChatGPT, not because it answers my questions but because of how it lets me explain my problem thoroughly so that I can get the best answer. And sometimes I get the solution while explaining it πŸ˜‚. Isn't that something?
