Who are We, and Who (or What) Do We Want to Become? An Evolutionary Perspective on Biotransformative Technologies

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/354638932_Who_are_We_and_Who_or_What_Do_We_Want_to_Become_An_Evolutionary_Perspective_on_Biotransformative_Technologies

In this publication, I show using evolutionary theory that the era of organic human evolution will end if we adopt either the practice of germline (heritable) genetic modification or external cognition devices (as suggested by Elon Musk).  I'm calling for a ban on both practices because adoption of either or both will lead to massive change in the evolutionary platform upon which all of humanity will have to try to reproduce and survive.

I distinguish between organic humans and synthetics, and outline that the societal strife we see today will pale in comparison to that we can expect if these technologies are adopted at any significant scale by anyone, anywhere.

The paper is open-access, peer-reviewed and is shareable online in any forum as a link or as a PDF file.

“On Tuesday, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration finalized the initial draft of the emergency order and sent it to the White House Office of Management and Budget for review. That’s according to the Department of Labor.
OMB’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs will conduct a standard review of the regulation.
Officials didn't immediately provide an estimate for the OMB examination. The agency has 90 days to review the rule or send it back to OSHA for revision. Text of the proposed order won’t be published until OMB completes its review.”
It’s a draft but remember, “public and private companies who employ 15 or more people are required under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act to provide religious accommodation to employees with sincerely held beliefs. This accommodation does not require any denomination or even belief in God, but must be carefully worded to withstand legal challenge. Common mistakes include requesting religious accommodation focused on safety and efficacy, or science, rather than belief issues.”
