Dear followers,
today is Women's day. Niantic wrote:
"Connecter, Explorer, Pioneer, Builder, Guardian: just a few ways the #WomenofIngress are described by their fellow Agents."
This is a beautiful message, and I would like to take this opportunity to make you think for a second about the Ingress community.
In my Ingress life, I saw a lot of examples where women were treated differently by other Agents, not considered strong enough or were awarded less merit only due to their gender.
The operator not respected because "a woman cannot give me orders".
The Agent not invited to a farm because she had a beer with someone that happens to be in the wrong Faction.
The Agent kicked out of an Operation because she is part of a crossfaction couple, and was threatened to "Turn off the phone when you are with him so he cannot read your chats".
This is the perfect chance to remember and recognise the role of women in our communities: maybe you even heard or lived similar stories in first person. We can and must stop this from happening: after all, Ingress is a game, life isn't.

Niantic released an official statement regarding Ingress Events and the current COVID-19 epidemic.
We are reporting the full text to avoid misunderstandings.
"Our current plans for Ingress events remain the same. We advise you to please exercise caution and your best judgement when making travel arrangements in advance.
Registration for Requiem Munich Anomaly and Lexicon Hexathlon will open on March 16 (Pacific time zone). However, out of an abundance of caution and pursuant to recommendations issued by the CDC, registration for Songpa, South Korea, will remain closed with the decision to proceed or cancel the event to be announced on April 3 (Pacific time zone). Please be aware that we will also monitor and evaluate the situation of the 14 other Hexathlon cities and may cancel based on the severity and elevated health risk of the country."

Today, Level 16 and recursed Agents on Ingress 2.41 in the US will see the SCAN PORTAL button enabled on the Portal Edit screen when they approach a Portal. Agents can currently contribute 200 Portal Scans per 13-day window. Like previous multiphased releases, Niantic will soon open Portal Scanning to more Agents in the coming weeks!

Niantic has officially announced the postponing of all next Events! In particular:
• April 4th: First Saturday
• April 25: Lexicon Hexathlon
• May 9th: Requiem Anomaly in Munich
• May 9th to July 3rd: NL1331X Tour and associated Mission Days
The company is looking for alternate dates in the timespan of 12 months.
✓ A new Boost item will be introduced to help Agents "earn additional AP for 30 minutes", initially set at 2x AP.
✓ The March Optima global challenge will be continued, but the goal has been reviewed to allow Agents to complete the challenge through solo play and responsible distancing from each other: Agents will need to complete 12 Missions for the bronze tier medal.
✓ Temporarily, Deploy of 2 L8 Resonators and 2 L7 Resonators will be enabled to encourage asynchronous Portal Farming.

Niantic has decided to bring some changes to the Portal Network during this Coronavirus outbreak:
• For the Sojourner Medal, a Portal Recharge will count as a Portal Hack.
• Deploy of 2 L8 and 2 L7 Resonators will be allowed
• Portal cooldown reduced to 90 seconds
• Portal Hack burnout increased to 16 hacks
