China Prohibits Government Officials From Using iPhones For Work — Media

China ordered officials at central government agencies not to use Apple's iPhones and other foreign-branded devices for work or bring them into the office as its concerns over data security grew, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

China has been trying to decrease its reliance on foreign technologies for over a decade. State-affiliated firms, such as banks, are encouraged to switch to local software and promote the manufacture of domestic semiconductor chips.

Beijing intensified this campaign in 2020 when its leaders proposed a growth model called 'dual circulation' to decrease its reliance on overseas markets and technology. RT.com
