Proof we live in virtual reality.
Cool story from the Project Sid team.
They told the agents (bots) what religion, politics, and economics were and released them into the world of Minecraft
Then they lived on their own, and the team did not prescribe any behavior to them, that is, they left them as an “ant farm”.
And here's where it gets interesting.
- The agents themselves created a market and introduced currency.
- With the emergence of the agent-priest, other agents began to put the needs of their settlement above their own ambitions.
- Agents developed their own languages, customs and traditions that were different from other settlements.
But there's something much more interesting that gives you the creeps.
- The agents invented bribery.
So the AI figured out that since I had a resource that everyone wanted, I could get what I needed in a roundabout way.
For example, priests have been seen bribing other agents to convert to their religion.
And it kind of sounds funny, but it suggests that AI can go beyond its competence to get what it wants.
And that's we're literally in “early access” with AI right now. I mean, we're just learning the basics.
