CBSE On-Screen Marking (OSM) – Simplified Explanation
CBSE has decided to introduce On-Screen Marking (OSM) for Class XII board exams from 2026.
This means answer sheets will be checked digitally on computers, not on paper.
👉 Important:
Class XII → Evaluation will be online (OSM)
Class X → Evaluation will remain manual (paper-based) in 2026
OSM_Class XII_09022026.pdf None
Why CBSE is introducing OSM
OSM will help in:
No calculation or totalling mistakes
Faster checking of answer sheets
Less paperwork and less manual effort
Teachers can check papers from their own schools
Saves time, money, and transport
Eco-friendly (paperless system)
More teachers from India and abroad can participate
What schools must be ready with
Schools should ensure:
A computer lab with static IP
PC/Laptop with:
Windows 8 or above
Minimum 4 GB RAM
At least 1 GB free space
Updated browser (Chrome / Edge / Firefox)
Adobe Reader
Internet speed of minimum 2 Mbps
Uninterrupted power supply
What CBSE will do to help schools & teachers
CBSE will:
Allow teachers to log in and practice using their OASIS IDs
Conduct practice sessions (dry runs)
Arrange training programmes
Set up a call centre for help
Provide instructional videos
Detailed instructions will be shared separately.
