Chandrayaan-3 Update:
๐Ÿš€ Countdown to Automatic Landing Sequence (ALS) activation is on.
๐Ÿ•ฐ Lander Module (LM) poised to reach the marked point at approximately 17:44 Hrs. IST.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Upon ALS initiation, LM's engines kick in for a powered descent.
๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš€ Mission operations team ensures meticulous command execution.

Chandrayaan-3's Communication Network ๐Ÿ›ฐ๐Ÿ“ก

๐ŸŒ 5 Deep space ๐Ÿ“กs from 3 space agencies have their eyes on Ch-3, tracking it via dual communication channelsโ€”directly and through Ch-2 orbiter.

๐Ÿ“ก ISRO: IDSN-32 ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ
๐Ÿ“ก NASA: DSS36 & DSS34 ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ
๐Ÿ“ก Madrid_DSN: DSS65 ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ
๐Ÿ“ก ESA: New Norcia, WA ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ

#DSS36, the prime antenna, tracks every move. ๐Ÿ“ถ If needed, #DSS34 stands ready as backup.

Meanwhile, IDSN-32 in Bengaluru and ESA's New Norcia station in Western Australia join the communication chorus during this critical phase.

India becomes the first ever country to successfully land a space probe near the lunar South Pole and the fourth country to soft-land the probe on the lunar surface.

The missionโ€™s main objective is to explore the south polar region of the moon, which is believed to contain water ice and other resources that could be useful for future human settlements. The mission also aims to conduct various scientific experiments on the lunar surface using its instruments. After orbiting the moon for about a month, the LM separated from the orbiter on 23 August 2023 and began its descent towards the lunar surface. The LM performed a series of automatic maneuvers to reduce its speed and align itself vertically to the landing site.

The LM and the RM communicated with each other and with the orbiter, which relayed their data and images to the ground station in India. The missionโ€™s scientists and engineers celebrated this remarkable feat, which was also witnessed by millions of people around the world through live telecast and streaming.

A proud moment for
ISRO
, India, and all of humanity!
