Today (Monday), the members of the IDF General Staff Forum held a media day marking Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day, led by the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Eyal Zamir, commemorating eighty years since the end of World War II.

At the opening of the day, the Chairman of Yad Vashem, Mr. Dani Dayan delivered remarks, followed by a lecture by Rabbi Tamir Granot, who spoke about the ability to rise from the depths of pain and loss, and to embrace life, growth, and recovery.

Later, the commanders held a meeting and discussion with Holocaust survivor Lea Balint, presenting her with a certificate as part of the “A Flower for a Survivor” project, in the presence of Limor Livnat, Chair of the Foundation for the Welfare of Holocaust Victims.

Following the meeting, participants toured Yad Vashem and visited the “Book of Names” exhibit, guided by Natalie Elgrabli, which focused on the role of hope as a core value and a source of resilience during and after the Holocaust.

The day concluded with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Hall of Names in Yad Vashem.

نفّذت الشرطة في #اللد، #الطيبة، و #الطيرة حملات تفتيش واسعة ضدّ حيازة الأسلحة والمخدرات. في #اللد، ضُبط مسدس وأمشاط ذخيرة مخبأة في منطقة مفتوحة. في #الطيرة، تم ضبط نحو 2 كغم حشيش، مواد مخدّرة أخرى، وأمشاط ذخيرة، وأوقف 4 مشتبهين.
أما في الطيبة، فتم ضبط مسدس وأقنعة، والقي القبض على 5 مشتبهين. جميعهم أحيلوا للتحقيق، وسيُعرضون اليوم على المحكمة للنظر في تمديد توقيفهم.

המאבק בפשיעה החמורה - 12 חשודים נעצרו בחשדות לניסיון רצח וסחיטה באיומים

יחידת פרוטקשן צפון בלהב 433, בשיתוף כוחות מחוז צפון ולוחמי מג"ב, עצרו הבוקר 12 חשודים בחשד לעבירות של ניסיון רצח, סחיטה באיומים, עושק, קשירת קשר ועבירות כלכליות.

במסגרת החקירה עלה חשד כי החשודים פעלו יחד כדי לסחוט את הקורבנות ובעלי עסקים, חלקם ללא כל סיבה וחלקם בגין הלוואות שניתנו לקורבנות בשוק האפור, שבגינם דרשו החשודים ריבית נשך אסורה. החשודים הפעילו מסכת איומים על בני משפחות הקורבנות, הוציאו לפועל אירועי ירי ואף ניסו לרצוח את אחד מהם.

במסגרת מבצע המעצרים בוצעו חיפושים ב-14 זירות ונתפסו תשעה רכבי יוקרה, כ -250 אלף ש"ח במזומן, מסמכים, מחשבים, כ-20 טלפונים סלולריים, אקדח הזנקה ופירוטכניקה הכוללת זיקוקים וכוורות.
