Ratko Mladić, the “Butcher of Bosnia”, is dead.
More than 8,000 Bosnian Muslims never got the chance to live.
In July 1995, Srebrenica became the scene of one of Europe’s worst atrocities since the Second World War.
Fathers. Sons. Brothers.
More than 8,000 Bosniak Muslim men and boys were murdered.
Mladić commanded the Bosnian Serb forces responsible. He was later convicted of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes and sentenced to life imprisonment.
He spent his final years behind bars in The Hague.
His death cannot bring back the fathers, sons and brothers who were murdered.
But Srebrenica must never be forgotten.
“And never think that Allāh is unaware of what the wrongdoers do.”
[Sūrah Ibrāhīm, Verse 42]
May Allāh have mercy upon the victims of Srebrenica and grant their families patience. Āmīn.

O Allāh, I am Your slave, and the son of Your male slave, and the son of your female slave.
My forehead is in Your Hand (You have control over me). Your Judgment upon me is assured, and Your Decree concerning me is just.
I ask You by every Name that You have named Yourself with, revealed in Your Book, taught any one of Your creation, or kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that is with You, to make the Qurʾān the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my distress.

Sayyid al-Istighfār: The Best Prayer for Seeking Forgiveness
Narrated Shaddād ibn Aws رضي الله عنه: The Prophet (ﷺ) said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allāh is:
اللهم أنت ربي، لا إله إلا أنت ، خلقتني وأنا عبدك، وأنا على عهدك ووعدك ما استطعت أعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت أبوء لك بنعمتك علي، وأبوء بذنبي، فاغفر لي فإنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت
The Prophet (ﷺ) added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise."
[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6306]
Transliteration: Allāhumma anta rabbī, lā ilāha illā anta,, khalaqtanī wa-anā ʿabduka, wa-anā ʿalā ʿahdika wa-waʿdika mā’istaṭaʿtu, aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿtu abūʾu laka bi-niʿmatika ʿalayy, wa-abūʾu laka bidhanbī, fa’ighfir lī fa-innahu lā yaghfir al-dhunūba illā ant
Translation: O Allāh, You are my Lord, there is no God but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I abide by Your covenant and promise (to honour it) as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil that I have committed. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for surely none can forgive sins but You.

An Isr*eli court has acquitted a Jewish man who attacked a French nun in occupied East Jerusalem, despite the assault being captured on CCTV and sparking widespread condemnation.
The court ruled that Yona Schreiber was experiencing a ‘psychotic episode’ when he pushed the nun to the ground and kicked her in the Old City in April. The court found him not criminally responsible for his actions.
The CCTV footage of the attack sparked outrage and renewed concerns over growing harassment and attacks against Christian clergy and pilgrims by Jewish extremists in Jerusalem’s Old City.
The nun struck her head against a stone block during the assault and suffered injuries to her face and leg.
In the past few years in Jerusalem's Old City there have been regular cases of religious Jews spitting and acting aggressively towards those wearing Christian religious dress or symbols. Church properties have been vandalised and there have also been bitter disputes caused by settler takeovers.

Reminder: Tomorrow is Monday. The Prophet ﷺ used to fast on Mondays.
Abū Qatāda al-Anṣārī رضي الله عنه reported that Allāh's Messenger ﷺ was asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon he said:
It is (the day) when I was born and revelation was sent down to me.

The official death toll has risen to 74 after wildfires spread across northeastern Algeria.
The fires swept through Jijel province on Wednesday and Thursday, devastating several communities and destroying vast areas of forest and farmland. Rescue teams continue to search for missing people while assessing the extensive damage.
A mass funeral was held after Friday prayers for 39 of the victims in the town of El-Djemaa Beni Habibi, attended by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb and hundreds of residents.
Local authorities warned that the death toll could rise further as search and recovery operations continue.
A witness told local media that 21 members of a single family were among those killed in the heights of Beni Habibi. The witness said entire families had been wiped out, while some victims’ bodies were recovered in severely burned condition.

Narrated by Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه: Allāh's Messenger ﷺ said,
"The reward of the prayer offered by a person in congregation is twenty five times greater than that of the prayer offered in one's house or in the market (alone).
And this is because if he performs ablution and does it perfectly and then proceeds to the mosque with the sole intention of praying, then for every step he takes towards the mosque, he is upgraded one degree in reward and his one sin is taken off (crossed out) from his accounts (of deeds).
When he offers his prayer, the angels keep on asking Allāh's Blessings and Allāh's forgiveness for him as long as he is (staying) at his Musalla.
They say, 'O Allāh! Bestow Your blessings upon him, be Merciful and kind to him.'
And one is regarded in prayer as long as one is waiting for the prayer."

And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nafl (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks My protection, I will protect him; and I do not hesitate to do anything as I hesitate to take the soul of the believer, for he hates death, and I hate to disappoint him."
