Israeli occupation forces have closed all gates to Masjid al-ʾAqṣā in occupied Jerusalem for the second consecutive Friday, preventing worshippers from performing Jummah prayers.

Since June 13, access has been heavily restricted, with a full six-day closure followed by a limited-entry system allowing only a small number of worshippers through specific gates under tight surveillance.

In contrast, Israeli settlers have been granted access via the Moroccan Gate. Palestinian authorities condemned the move as a "dangerous escalation" aimed at altering the mosque’s historical and legal status. Daily life in the Old City has been severely disrupted, with only local residents allowed entry, while Jewish areas remain unaffected.

Today marks the 1st of Muḥarram, which means it is the beginning of the new Islamic year.

The start of the Islamic calendar was set by ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه, who based the first year when the Prophet ﷺ migrated (made Hijrah) from Makkah to Madīnah.

It is now 1447 years since the Prophet ﷺ's migration to Madīnah, however the date of the Hijrah is not linked with the 1st of Muḥarram.

Al-Muḥarram [ٱلْمُحَرَّم] means forbidden, it is one of the months when fighting is forbidden.

Narrated Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet ﷺ said,

“The most excellent fast after Ramaḍān is Allāh's month, al-Muḥarram, and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the night.”

[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1163a]

On 18th June, a 55-year-old mother of five was violently attacked on a New York subway after she was asked, "Are you Muslim?" while she was wearing the hijab and listening to the Qurʾān.

The man then began to punch and kick her repeatedly, hitting her in the head, neck, and face. The assault only stopped when the train reached the next station, and bystanders, along with the conductor, called the police. The Muslim woman suffered a fractured nasal bone, a fractured orbital bone, and substantial pain, bruising, and swelling.

The suspect fled, but two women and the conductor helped flag him down for the police. Officers arrested 34-year-old Naved Durni and charged him with hate crime assault.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help the woman pay for her medical bills, mental health support and other necessities such as rent and groceries.

O Allāh, in this sacred month of Muḥarram, just as You saved Mūsa عليه السلام and his people from tyranny, save our oppressed brothers and sisters around the world.

Ya Rabb, You are the Protector of the weak, the Helper of the broken, and the Answerer of the desperate—grant victory to the oppressed in Palestine, Sudan, Kashmir, Yemen, and every land where justice is denied.

Let the lessons of Mūsa عليه السلام teach us courage, and the patience of the oppressed teach us humility. Do not let us be silent in the face of injustice. Let our hearts remain firm upon truth, and our hands be used to bring relief.

Ameen.

Israeli occupation forces killed three men on Wednesday after intervening to protect occupiers during a violent assault on a Palestinian town near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

The incident began at around 7pm when over 50 Israeli occupiers descended on Kafr Malik, east of Ramallah. They set fire to parts of three homes and completely torched four vehicles.

As residents gathered to confront the attackers, the occupation forces stormed the town and began firing live ammunition.

Three men were killed and at least seven others were wounded. In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy was killed by the Israeli occupation forces in the northern West Bank town of Al-Yamoun amid a surge of violence and near-daily confrontations between occupiers and Palestinians.

Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه reported Allāh's Messenger ﷺ as saying:
Do you know who is poor?

They (the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ) said: A poor man amongst us is one who has neither dirham with him nor wealth.

He ﷺ replied: The poor of my Ummah would be he who would come on the Day of Resurrection with prayers and fasts and Zakat but (he would find himself bankrupt on that day as he would have exhausted his funds of virtues) since he hurled abuses upon others, brought calumny against others and unlawfully consumed the wealth of others and shed the blood of others and beat others, and his virtues would be credited to the account of one (who suffered at his hand). And if his good deeds fall short to clear the account, then his sins would be entered in (his account) and he would be thrown in the Hell-Fire.

[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2581]

Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه reported Allāh's Messenger ﷺ as saying:

“Avoid suspicion, for suspicion is the gravest lie in talk and do not be inquisitive about one another and do not spy upon one another and do not feel envy with the other, and nurse no malice, and nurse no aversion and hostility against one another. And be fellow-brothers and servants of Allāh.”

While performing in Abu Dhabi, Dave Chappelle blasted DJ Khaled for staying silent on the genocide in Gaza.

During his set, someone in the crowd shouted DJ Khaled’s name, and Chappelle didn’t hold back:

“DJ Khaled, let me tell you something. For a Palestinian, this man is awfully quiet right now. And as a Palestinian, how could you be that quiet right now? And why are you so fat? People are starving. He’s the only fat Palestinian on Earth right now..”

Chappelle has been one of the few major voices speaking out. Last year in Abu Dhabi, he called Israel’s assault on Gaza a “genocide” receiving cheers from the crowd.
