Remember Zakarīyā, when he cried to his Lord, ‘My Lord, do not leave me childless, though You are the best of heirs.’

We answered him – We gave him Yaḥyā, and cured his wife of barrenness - they were always keen to do good deeds. They called upon Us out of longing and awe, and humbled themselves before Us.

[Sūrah al-ʾAnbiyāʾ, Verse 89-90]

And remember when We assigned to ʾIbrāhīm the site of the House, saying, “Do not associate anything with Me in worship and purify My House for those who circle the Kaʿbah, stand in prayer, and bow and prostrate themselves.

Call all people to the pilgrimage. They will come to you on foot and on every lean camel from every distant path,

so they may obtain the benefits in store for them, and pronounce the Name of Allāh on appointed days over the sacrificial animals He has provided for them. So eat from their meat and feed the desperately poor.

Then let them groom themselves, fulfil their vows, and circle the Ancient House.”

That is so. And whoever honours the rituals of Allāh, it is best for them in the sight of their Lord. The meat of cattle has been made lawful for you, except what has already been recited to you. So shun the impurity of idolatry, and shun words of falsehood.

[Sūrah al-Ḥajj, Verse 26-30]

Do you not see that to Allāh bow down in submission all those in the heavens and all those on the earth, as well as the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, and all living beings, as well as many humans, while many are deserving of punishment. And whoever Allāh disgraces, none can honour. Surely Allāh does what He wills.

[Sūrah al-Ḥajj, Verse 18]

Abū Qatāda al-Anṣārī رضي الله عنه‎ reported the Messenger ﷺ was asked about the observance of fasting on the day of ʿArafah.

He ﷺ said, “It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the coming year.”

[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1162b]

ʿArafah - The day Allāh perfected Islām for us.

Narrated by ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه‎:

Once a Jew said to me, "O the chief of believers! There is a verse in your Holy Book Which is read by all of you (Muslims), and had it been revealed to us, we would have taken that day (on which it was revealed as a day of celebration."

ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه‎ asked, "Which is that verse?"

The Jew replied, “Today I have perfected your religion for you, completed My blessing upon you, and chosen as your religion islam.“ [Sūrah al-Māʾidah, Verse 3]

ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه replied, "No doubt, we know when and where this verse was revealed to the Prophet. It was Friday and the Prophet ﷺ was standing at ʿArafat (i.e. the Day of Ḥajj)"

[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 45]

لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير

Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamd, wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr

There is no god but Allah alone, without any partner. The Kingdom and praise belongs to Him and He has power over everything.

Strive for the cause of Allāh in the way He deserves, for it is He Who has chosen you, and laid upon you no hardship in the religion - the way of your forefather ʾIbrāhīm. It is Allāh Who named you ‘the ones who submit’ in the earlier Scriptures and in this Qurʾān, so that the Messenger may be a witness over you, and that you may be witnesses over humanity. So establish prayer, pay alms-tax, and hold fast to Allāh. He alone is your Guardian. What an excellent Guardian, and what an excellent Helper!

[Sūrah al-Ḥajj, Verse 78]

Eid Mubarak! May Allāh accept good deeds from you and us.

May Allāh, the Lord Almighty help us preserve the legacy of ʾIbrāhīm عليه السلام, through our love for Him. May He help us through our tests, may He help us sacrifice our own egos, and keep us steadfast in faith and increase our love for Him.
